@karel Upgrading from EOL releases is on-topic.

That has four close votes as off-topic, so it is an example of why lowering the thereshold for closure to three would probably not work out well.

I guess one might argue that the question is ambiguous because maybe the OP doesn't want to upgrade to a newer release, but (a) we close questions about unsupported releases as off-topic supposedly to encourage people to upgrade, (b) if they do the thing we ask them to do then they will have the same question since they have to solve this before upgrading to a newer release, and (c) the closure such ambiguity would support should be "unclear what you are asking."

I guess my comment doesn't express that. I've deleted my comment. Maybe I'll replace it.

Hmm, what would be the reason to close this question? I don't think that question should prompt any concerns, but to the extent to which it does, I'd think this quite strong consensus would apply.

@EliahKagan My main argument for not lowering the vote threshold from 5 to 3 like Stack Overflow did is based on two things. 1. Stack Overflow has many more users than Ask Ubuntu in general and many more gold badge tag users than Ask Ubuntu in particular. Most dupes at Stack Overflow are closed by gold badge tag users. 2. Stack Overflow also has many more 100k+ reputation moderators than Ask Ubuntu. Reviewers are moderated hard by moderators, to reduce the #of incorrect question closures.

@Zanna I don't know. Maybe because accessing ext4 in Windows isn't about Ubuntu. I remember some of the highly rated questions about reading ext4 in Windows are closed as OT. I tried to reopen them by pushing into review queue but they were left closed.

They were wondering if they can write data to ext4 from Windows. They tried some software which corrupted the partition. On my suggestion, they copied the file using LiveUSB and fscked the partition.

Well I should really look at the individual reviews - I haven't seen anything specific that I disagreed with or anything like that. And you passed all your audits. I've just been looking at the stats lately because some users (not you) are definitely reviewing badly, and I noticed that you have a high No Action Needed percentage and a low time-spent-per-item. So I wanted to ask you about your process at some point

I realise that there is a difference between how I would like FP review to be done and how I can reasonably expect FP review to be done

@EliahKagan can we collect these? I feel that there is no good alternative to manually collecting data about it. All of the statistics that have been brought up in connection to the possibility so far seem to me insufficient

@Zanna I usually leave FP queue for new reviewers. But these days no. of items in FP queue are way more than CV queue. So, I visit that queue occasionally. My main focus are on CV queue, Reopen queue and suggested edits queue.

Maybe I read too fast and that's the reason I spend less time per item.

Just out of curiosity, mods see the average time or the time per post?

btw to follow up on my unsatisfying reply here - the post was the one I had remembered looking at, and the reason I bothered to paste it after finding it wasn't just to show that is was useless, but rather because it has a definition for wrongly closed. However, that definition is not broadly useful. I would like to gather data, but we need definitions for "wrong" close votes, for example, the question received...

from around the I started transitioning to mainly doing moderation, as opposed to mainly doing answering, until quite recently, I found it extremely hard to review FP & LA

but I have started to find it easier (although still hard). I mean I feel that in general I know what to do
