@EliahKagan I assume one of the close vote is because of the misunderstanding that the OP is using Puppy Linux (as indicated by comments on the answer).
@Zanna Yes, Ubports is now Ubuntu touch. Please take a look at their website if you wish. I'm not sure about the status of the project, but from various articles I've seen online looks like it's still alive (not dead at least).
my immediate reaction is to try to solve this urgently, but I get the impression it will take time. I wonder if we have been receiving new questions about Ubuntu Touch, and whether they have been getting answered
> The requirements for being an official flavor are untenable for a mobile phone distribution like UBports. Even for the 3-4 years while Canonical was actively developing Ubuntu on phones, it never was able to meet all the requirements of being an official flavor of Ubuntu.
Yeah. But Mark Shuttleworth announced that Canonical Ltd. would terminate support for the project due to lack of market interest on 5 April 2017 and it was then adopted by UBports as a community project.
AFAIK AU supports those topics about Ubuntu which are supported by Canonical.
I'm not saying that the earlier conversation was conclusive. I'm just trying to mention that such discussion already happened in the past and there was no clear conclusion.
I'm thinking of posting on meta about the Ubuntu Touch issue - something like "UBPorts is now Ubuntu Touch - should we support it?"
but, I'm not totally sure that there are new issues since this
back then, it seems, not many people were interested in the discussion
maybe that would still be the case if we tried to revive it
I was wondering if we might, before or probably after posting on meta, reach out to the UBPorts people directly (like, via the Contact Us stuff on the website) and ask them if they are interested
at some point we will have to try to fix our EoL policy... I don't know if that would cause problems in trying to figure out what to do about Ubuntu Touch
That answer, which was rightly deleted, should either be converted to an edit on the question or a comment on the other answer. I'm not sure which is better.
This question is closed as dupe against two targets, but the one titled "How do I change login screen theme or background in Ubuntu 20.04?" is a misfit, it doesn't have anything to do with the login screen theme or background, rather the GTK theme control the elements.
Secondly, it has an answer with a couple of useful workarounds which are missing from the correct target. So merging with the correct target would be useful.
would you mind flagging it to suggest merging? I am just doing some things... Also it creates a useful record. Either way I will try to look at it properly later
@pomsky @Zanna Could you please convert all the unnecessary and useless comments below this question to a chat or something (except the two where I asked feedback from the OP)?
@Zanna I usually flag these in the first place. But since this one had two targets with one being an unsuitable one, I refrained initially to avoid confusion. Thanks for handling this!
I'm not sure what to do with this question. The last part is about Ubuntu. It could be moved to the answer. But I don't think it's clear what the problem actually was. Probably it should be closed as unclear. I'd wrongly voted to close it as OT "not about Ubuntu." I've retracted that wrong vote and can't vote to close it again.
