I agree with not closing those questions - they come up so often

I don't think this edit really improves the post.

@EliahKagan I assume one of the close vote is because of the misunderstanding that the OP is using Puppy Linux (as indicated by comments on the answer).

Oh. Yeah. Actually both close votes are for "not about Ubuntu".

3:19 AM
Yeah. I'm holding off my close votes since I'm not sure about those especially the one about maven.

I got this question about Ubuntu Touch in the close review queue. Are these questions considered OT? I have found @Zanna's question on Meta about this, but isn't conclusive.
@Natty fp

@user3140225 not sure that answers the question though
@user3140225 yeah, I would love to know what we are supposed to do :(
is UBPorts now called Ubuntu Touch? Is there any status update on it? I really don't know
maybe it's time for a new meta post
or some other information-gathering activity

@Zanna Indeed.
@Zanna Yes, Ubports is now Ubuntu touch. Please take a look at their website if you wish. I'm not sure about the status of the project, but from various articles I've seen online looks like it's still alive (not dead at least).

7:48 AM
right, so the situation has evolved significantly and this meta question is perhaps more to the point
I think this one is also inconclusive
the overall feeling seems to be lukewarm support for the idea of allowing these questions

Yeah. So the decision is more or less at the reviewer's discretion. That's a conclusion too!

my immediate reaction is to try to solve this urgently, but I get the impression it will take time. I wonder if we have been receiving new questions about Ubuntu Touch, and whether they have been getting answered
> The requirements for being an official flavor are untenable for a mobile phone distribution like UBports. Even for the 3-4 years while Canonical was actively developing Ubuntu on phones, it never was able to meet all the requirements of being an official flavor of Ubuntu.

I was the first one to cast a close vote on that question.

Are questions related to Ubuntu touch on-topic?
May 5 '19 at 3:45, by Zanna
anyway, Ubuntu Touch is unsupported. So I guess it's off-topic

@Zanna from that answer

Yeah. But Mark Shuttleworth announced that Canonical Ltd. would terminate support for the project due to lack of market interest on 5 April 2017 and it was then adopted by UBports as a community project.
AFAIK AU supports those topics about Ubuntu which are supported by Canonical.

I don't think that earlier conversation we had was conclusive about what policy we should have about those questions

I'm not saying that the earlier conversation was conclusive. I'm just trying to mention that such discussion already happened in the past and there was no clear conclusion.

@user3140225 I will have a look at the website, thanks!

@Kulfy I voted to leave it open btw

the website is very Ubuntu-y
there are loads of some new questions in the tag
few of them are getting answered
personally, I would prefer us to welcome those questions

I'm thinking of posting on meta about the Ubuntu Touch issue - something like "UBPorts is now Ubuntu Touch - should we support it?"
but, I'm not totally sure that there are new issues since this
back then, it seems, not many people were interested in the discussion
maybe that would still be the case if we tried to revive it
I was wondering if we might, before or probably after posting on meta, reach out to the UBPorts people directly (like, via the Contact Us stuff on the website) and ask them if they are interested
at some point we will have to try to fix our EoL policy... I don't know if that would cause problems in trying to figure out what to do about Ubuntu Touch

@user3140225 Of what? There are no comments there.

@EliahKagan Thanks. I forgot to report it.

No problem.
That answer, which was rightly deleted, should either be converted to an edit on the question or a comment on the other answer. I'm not sure which is better.

@Zanna Intervention needed.
This question is closed as dupe against two targets, but the one titled "How do I change login screen theme or background in Ubuntu 20.04?" is a misfit, it doesn't have anything to do with the login screen theme or background, rather the GTK theme control the elements.
Secondly, it has an answer with a couple of useful workarounds which are missing from the correct target. So merging with the correct target would be useful.
(unrelated) dupe

brb sorry

hahaha
@EliahKagan was wondering same
but the question can display the image
so probably better to put it in there
@pomsky I removed the wrong dupe target

would you mind flagging it to suggest merging? I am just doing some things... Also it creates a useful record. Either way I will try to look at it properly later

@Kulfy VTC'd as OT but got closed as dupe. Should we reopen it and close it as OT?

@user3140225 It's more useful to the OP if it is closed as a dupe.

@user3140225 I don't think it's worthy to reopen and close as OT. System would any way delete that.

OK cool

@pomsky I'd recommend flagging the comment as no longer needed and move on.
Once that user blamed me of copying their answer -_-
I flagged their comments as no longer needed and moved on.

@pomsky @Zanna Could you please convert all the unnecessary and useless comments below this question to a chat or something (except the two where I asked feedback from the OP)?

dupe @karel So, this solution helped. Thank you

@Zanna I usually flag these in the first place. But since this one had two targets with one being an unsuitable one, I refrained initially to avoid confusion. Thanks for handling this!

I'm not sure what to do with this question. The last part is about Ubuntu. It could be moved to the answer. But I don't think it's clear what the problem actually was. Probably it should be closed as unclear. I'd wrongly voted to close it as OT "not about Ubuntu." I've retracted that wrong vote and can't vote to close it again.
not no repro, it's asking what that icon means
