@Natty tp

@EliahKagan the dupe closure doesn't look right to me

Do you think it's wrong or just bad?
I thought it would be okay based on, "I see it is a deb package! have never installed deb package." (My close vote was not to make it a duplicate.)
It is at least bad, in hindsight, since while the OP may have been looking for information about installing .deb files, people who find it by searching will likely think they should use the information at the linked questions to install Protonmail, and it is not clear that this would be reasonable.
But I am thinking it is acceptable to leave it as it is.
(unrelated) Does SE guarantee keep HTML for all revisions of a post, or just the current revision?
I'm wondering what will happen once

Q: We're switching to CommonMark

Ham VockeI’m Ham and I’m a developer on the Teams team here at Stack Overflow. Over the past few months, I’ve been heads down working on the way we turn Markdown into HTML when writing and editing posts across the network. I’d love to share what I’ve come up with. In a nutshell: We’re planning to use Com...

is implemented, when one reviews looks at old revisions of posts that use features of SE's dialect of Markdown that are incompatible with CommonMark.
My recollection is that only the most recent version's HTML is available through SEDE.

It is not clear that they were asking how to install .deb files or that the generic information in the dupe questions would help with the specific app. This is the kind of dupe closure I personally really hate.
@EliahKagan hmmm I don't know

@Zanna I am willing to vote to reopen the question so that it can be closed with a different close reason.
(The system won't let me actually vote to close it again after that, though.)

Yeah :/
@EliahKagan wow... a lot if things are going to break... must be many hundreds of posts I've edited or written that use features of the current markdown dialect that will no longer work

I think the intention is that nothing will break.
That is, the migration will include automatic edits, presumably by (or shown as being done by) the Community bot, on each CommonMark-incompatible post, translating all constructs that CommonMark doesn't support into CommonMark constructs that produce the same rendered HTML.
At least that is how I understand it.
So, for example, if I understand correctly, Markdown like
<!-- language: lang-bash -->

    printf 'Hello, world!\n'
will be changed automatically, in an edit that is non-bumping but that does appear in the post's revision history (kind of like the HTTPS edits a while back), to:
```bash
printf 'Hello, world!\n'
```

I hope it works XD
The HTTPS edits were surely a lot easier

I think so, yes. :)
I'm basing my interpretation on
> When we change a post’s Markdown automatically, this will end up looking like a regular edit but we’re making sure that this won’t bump posts to the top.
from the question, and
> We're storing the update as a new edit

I'm thinking of lists with nested indentations... nightmare for my humble human brain
I'm going out to buy food (damn I hate going shopping these days)... I guess I'll get over the dislikeable dupe closure... don't want to reopen it as it will be too hard to close
\o
Thanks for engaging <3

Okay. If you think of a better way forward for that post, feel free to ping!
I've posted an "answer" (as seems to be the expected way to ask questions on official announcements by SE employees) on that MSE question asking about what happens to how old revisions are displayed when viewed individually and as diffs.

@EliahKagan cool, I'd be interested in the response

I'll let you know when there's a reply.
One thing that won't be changed automatically is the editing advice in numerous meta posts.
