@tgkprog For APT you can have a look on manpage. The installation methods always depend on the user, for example, some like debs, some Snaps and some like to install manually/building from source.

Q: How to install the latest versions of NodeJS and NPM?

tonyfI noticed over at the https://nodejs.org/ website that node is currently at v 0.12.0. Can someone let me know how to install the latest version of node together with npm (terminal commands please)?

@Kulfy I agree.

Is it on-topic? Seems borderline case.

@EliahKagan But I think I really shouldn't have hammered it closed with just one existing close vote on it... minutes after answering it myself. I wasn't thinking of my mjolnir. I'll comment to let people know I'm willing to reopen it if there are doubts about the closure's correctness.

@EliahKagan You already wrote an answer. +1 for that.

Rejectable. Editor changed 20.04.4 to 20.04. But as of now there's no evidence that OP meant 20.04 and not 18.04.4. (Many other interpretations could also be made)
Rejectable. Editor didn't describe the context of error message that one is likely to get. autoremove isn't really a magical command.

5:12 AM
@Kulfy I think the answer is correct about why this is happening in VS Code and, presumably, not elsewhere. The OP most likely does have a different Python interpret selected in VS Code than they are otherwise accustomed to running. So long as it is really a VS Code usage question -- and it is in Ubuntu -- I think it's on-topic. I've upvoted the answer.

Yes the answer is correct. print is a keyword in Python2 and function in Python3. The transition was described in release notes.

Yeah.

I think it's additionally correct in its interpretation of the question, in terms of why the question is saying the problem is happening in VS Code.

I think I should reword the question. Did OP meant undesired by undised?
(unrelated) unclear. OP didn't respond

5:32 AM
@Kulfy I've rejected it with a custom reason explaining that issue, and commented to request that the OP include the clarification in their upcoming edit. Thanks!
@Kulfy I noticed you edited it. That looks much better. I don't know quite what they meant by "undised".

@EliahKagan I need help from a gold badge user to remove the second duplicate from How do I restore the apt source list in terminal. because the other existing duplicate link is better. Thnaks in advance.
The duplicate link that I want to remove is "What is the correct output of cat /etc/apt/sources.list?"

Hey @jokerdino!!!

@kulfy, yo, what up?

@pomsky great work
@pomsky good catch

@jokerdino Did the user (that I mentioned earlier) violate the CoC mutiple times? Whenever some user was removed, they had some reputaation deducted. Once 10, then 150 and then whooping ~600. Asking just out of curiosity. You can ofcourse deny to answer since moderators can't let normal users know all the insights.

What do we have for this? I'm tempted to post an answer saying to run cd ~username to get to the directory they were at before (the comment on the question, which should've been posted as an answer, covers that syntax, but not that usage), but it wouldn't really be a good answer without also explaining what's going on and also explaining how to run files.
If we have something for this already, I can avoid posting an answer.
no longer needed, wrong canned comment

@EliahKagan Post already reported

(I edited it, and the lack of code formatting contributed to the detection, but I don't think it was in bad enough shape originally to be ne rather than fp.)

@pomsky Is it safe to purge gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock in 20.04? IIRC earlier in 18.04 it wasn't recommended.

This was not really a duplicate answer. Instead it converted the comment on WinEunuuchs2Unix's answer into an answer. Should it be undeleted?
(Need to be mod flagged if it is to be undeleted)
(unrelated) dupe
dupe as per OP's comment.

5:48 PM
@Kulfy Yeah, that should be undeleted. It might benefit from an edit first to link to the comment (and to avoid calling the comment an answer to prevent the same confusion from arising again).

@Kulfy I'm not sure about 20.04, but in 18.04 it just removes the ubuntu-desktop meta-package along with it. This may theoretically cause a problem later (maybe while upgrading to a later release). So it's not recommended, but in practice it doesn't really have many terrible side-effects.

@EliahKagan on it

Thanks! :)

:D
great catch @Kulfy

@EliahKagan I flagged for mod attention.
@Zanna Thanks.
I got this answer as an audit :D
@pomsky Is it ok then?

@Kulfy Thanks.

@jokerdino Thanks for undeleting the post :)

@Kulfy Perhaps it should come with a caveat, this seems to be the canonical question: askubuntu.com/questions/126390/…
@Kulfy Could add the gnome-shell tag to the question, it's a dupe

Merely restarting the shell should also fix the issue I believe. There's no need to remove that package. Do we have a dupe target for this.

@Kulfy for VTC, But that's probably not a permanent solution, please add the gnome-shell and gnome-shell-extension tags. I would be able to hammer it then.

Give me a minute.

6:05 PM
Any tag cleanup needs to be done? Like merging tags or synonymizing tags?

@Kulfy For VTC, this is the target: askubuntu.com/questions/975387/…

Done. Edited and voted to close.

@jokerdino I suggested this one: askubuntu.com/tags/gnome-tweak-tool/synonyms
(gnome-tweak-tool and gnome-tweaks)

6:31 PM
@Kulfy I can't tag purge haha. Needs higher powers
@pomsky this one I am not sure.
@pomsky I think we should prefer gnome-tweaks since that is the package that installs the actual software.
I guess we now have to update and maintain the tag wiki of .
I can swap it the other way if there are any considerations to be had.

6:49 PM
@jokerdino any direction is fine by me :) I just felt there shouldn't be two different tags
