This answer needlessly urges readers to erase their hard disks. Is this answer valid? Both the PPAs seem to have almost no up to date packages for Bionic. How is this supposed to work?

As you say, I don't think it will work. For 18.04 LTS, the GNOME3 Staging PPA only packages fonts-cantarell and the GNOME3 PPA only packages gnome-photos. If for some reason you don't want to post a comment, I can do so.

@pomsky Maybe something like that worked at some point in time for some release of Ubuntu (or appeared to? I don't know. If the procedure it recommends is somehow useful for 18.04, then the answer should explain why, given the PPA's package list. But I'm pretty sure it's just wrong.

Regarding that (same) post, I'm unsure if I should vote to delete it. Arguably, it's intended as an answer to a different question about a different release (or something), so deletion might be reasonable. Anyway, if anybody has thoughts to share about that I'm interested, but I'll hold off on casting a delete vote until I'm less conflicted.

@EliahKagan I'm not sure whether right now it applies to other releases either. Both the PPAs have an EoL notice under description. It says "This PPA is no longer updated for releases older than Ubuntu 18.04 LTS" and asks to purge the PPA from an older release. There doesn't seem to be any packages for a supported newer release either.

@Kulfy I'd say that's fine, so long as the edits would otherwise be reasonable. On the other hand, if you find one one a post where there's other stuff that's more important, clearly needs editing, but isn't touched, then I'd Reject and Edit.

That's more my opinion and not an actual statement of existing policy. You could ask on meta.

For new users, I usually prefer "Improve Edit" since they would get reputation to get some basic privileges like commenting, upvoting.

I was wondering if it would be useful to have a chat bot in this room that posts links to AU or Trello when questions and answers mentioned on that project's Trello cards have their Trello or AU links posted in here, respectively. (Subject to rate-limiting, of course--such a hypothetical bot shouldn't post the same link over and over, for example.)

This idea shouldn't be confused with an offer to write such a bot, since I don't know how to write an SE chat bot. But I'm still curious.

If it was only XP then I do think that diminishes the value of the answer. If it applied to Windows 7 or later then it's probably still quite relevant though.

Never as a default. HFS and HFS+ are only the defaults on macOS and its antecedents. There's some support for them in Linux though.

"Reading along, Linux creates an HFS partition that is not seen by WinXP" on that 7 year old article. IMO the answer has no significance if we consider today's market share of XP
