@EliahKagan OP claims to have upgraded to Disco
I updated to UBuntu 19.04. The behavior is exactly the same, so this question has nothing to do with the version of Ubuntu. — Dov 19 mins ago

That's good enough for me. I've retracted my close vote.

I think this answer is spam and I'm annoyed about the No Action Needed review it got

I can't decide if I should flag that as spam or NAA.
Because of the effects of red flags on the poster's account (moving it quickly toward an answer ban), I suspect moderators might be reluctant to delete the post as spam. But it's definitely just recommending Windows software that would not work on Ubuntu. I've voted to delete the post.
As for the review, yeah, even if the reviewer didn't flag the post they could have voted on it or commented about how it's a Windows program. (I've commented.)

@Zanna Wait a minute!!! How can you re-review late answer again? 10k tools?

@Kulfy I think it happens when both reviews happen in a very short space of time. I had already opened the review and was investigating when Pierre.Vriens also opened it and completed it
before I finished
sometimes that happens and my review does not appear in the review. But sometimes it does appear. So I think there is some short timeframe when multiple reviews can be recorded?

Maybe whether or not it appears depends on what type of review it is?

I actually have no idea whether that is intentional or even if I am describing the behaviour accurately
@EliahKagan maybe so

Or have you observed some late Late Answers reviews appearing and others not?

@Zanna Hmm. makes sense

1:25 PM
yes, sometimes I press back and my review is not there. Usually when I have reviewed it after opening the review page, tabbing out or going off and doing something else, then returning and completing the review. In such cases I'd expect that someone else has done the review anyway. But sometimes I press back and my review is there
Most of the people who regularly review Late Answers almost always click No Action Needed (to my huge frustration) but I very rarely click that, so my review is probably different to the preceding review. But I can't be sure that it has always been different when it shows up, or always been the same when it does not

@Zanna Ah. Then my suspicion was wrong--it doesn't (just) depend on the type of review.
@Zanna Oh, I meant type of the review as in First Posts vs. Late Answers vs. Low Quality Posts and so forth.
I think the First Posts and Late Answers queues should require more than one review to be complete (i.e., to be removed from the queue), or at least should require more than a single No Action Needed review.

@EliahKagan +1 to that

in the Close Votes queue, there is an action that removes an item from the queue unilaterally, but that action is editing, which is extremely unlikely to be done out of inattention, and which credits the editor on the page (and lets them be pinged in comments on the post).

@EliahKagan oh! I think this also can happen in First Posts. But I am not completely sure if I always saw this in Late Answers or in both

@EliahKagan Letting Edit remove an item from the Close Votes queue strikes me as a good design choice. In contrast, in the First Posts and Late Answers queues, the fastest action that is likely to be done with the least attention is sufficient to unilaterally remove a post from the queue. I don't think that's the best way it could work.

1:32 PM
@EliahKagan indeed. Multiple times I have had to awkwardly raise a custom flag on a post that has been reviewed by someone to draw attention to a string of poor reviews by that reviewer
because there is no other way to do anything about it
and it is a digging exercise
although it is unlikely that people will edit a post out of inattention, I wish that the review page warned the reviewer that editing would remove the post from the queue unilaterally, to prevent them kicking it out by making a few minor corrections leaving the post no less a duplicate or unclear or off-topic...

I think the mouseover text for Edit in the Close Votes queue should be something like "improve this question instead of closing" instead of "improve this question."

that would help :)

I think that, the more overt the reminder that an Edit review knocks a question from the queue, the more tempted reviewers will find it to Edit for the purpose of making what is effectively a Leave Open review more powerful. On the other hand, sometimes that's right. When it is completely clear that all the close reasons are wrong, I think it's reasonable to use Edit (so long as there actually is some edit that ought to be done).
Of course most Edit reviews should be to edit in such a way that would make the post less reasonable to close or that would make it easier to recognize that the post should not be closed.
@Zanna Does SEDE not allow reviews to be looked up by reviewer?

yes... I find I am rarely able to make such an edit, unfortunately. Glorious when it happens
@EliahKagan it does allow that, but I don't think that would be easier than working from the reviews section in the person's profile

1:47 PM
Ah, okay.
@Zanna I wonder what design changes have been proposed about the First Posts and Late Answers review queues on MSE. I recall that No Action Needed exists primarily to be a less harmful option than performing some ill-considered action in order to complete the review. And I do think sometimes no action is needed or appropriate; in such cases, reviewers who read the post and determine that should get credit for the review.
But at least if the number of reviews by non-moderators to clear a post from the queue is to remain small (much less 1!), I wish there were a way to perform actions, keep the item in the queue, but get credit for the review. Often I can improve the situation in some way but there are clear problems that I either can't address or don't feel like addressing at the time. So I edit (or comment, vote, flag, whatever) and then click Skip.
I don't feel bad about not being listed as a reviewer for the post, but it feels strange that this doesn't credit me as a reviewer but just clicking No Action Needed on a post does credit me.
The real solution should probably be to just increase the number of reviews needed for items in those queues, though.

I just want these posts to get proper attention
but I am not often able to review many of them myself
it is laborious
often I edit them and still skip them because I don't feel they have received enough attention
it would be much better if more than one review were required
I'm like a little echo of you @EliahKagan haha

Is the reason it only requires one review that, if it required more, then it would be easier to guess what private actions previous reviewers had done, like voting and flagging?
I don't think that's an adequate reason to only require on review, but I'm curious if it was considered.

maybe we should look on MSE to find out what you wondered

(unrelated) I don't think this meta question is a duplicate. I strongly suspect there's a way to paste images directly into posts, using a stack app or other browser add-on. If there isn't, at least an answer could be posted about that. Does this stack app achieve that?

Q: Please require more reviewers on First Posts

RosinanteOn the one hand, I see very few posts in the review queue when I visit. On the other hand, I see a lot of pretty awful first posts sitting on the front page. This leads me to suspect that robo-reviewers are blowing through the queue. Given how empty the queue is, could you please increase the ...

@EliahKagan oooh good find

@Zanna Apparently this just works now and no stack app is necessary.
But the dupe target that had been proposed still does not cover that.

4:11 PM
@EliahKagan indeed not. Hope it will not be closed

Should the older question get a new answer?
Maybe it should be closed and merged? I'm not sure. I'm reluctant to ask for questions on meta to be merged, even support questions.
(I'll be back a bit later.)

Hmm. Not sure. Too sleepy

4:36 PM
@EliahKagan Indeed. Nowadays (after the introduction of the new image upload dialogue?) it's possible without using any external tool.

no repro (Not just because it was a hardware problem, which I don't think is by itself sufficient for closure, but because there aren't really any details about what happened in Ubuntu that would help others will the same hardware problem know they have it.)

That answer is copied from the much older answer, including the typo in the cd command, so I don't think it's worth translating. It does have 8822bu instead of rtl8822bu in the last command, but I suspect this is a mistake rather than an intentional difference.

This question seems more too broad than off-topic.
I don't think this question is a duplicate of the proposed target, since it's asking for a GUI (or how to make one). The OP presumably knows, or mostly knows, or is in any case not asking for, what hdparm commands to run to erase the disk.
