any idea what the issue is here?

1 hour later…
@pomsky hmm... is there a DE with such a button in any language?

@Zanna I am not aware of. GNOME Tweaks has a reset to defaults option, but there is no clear evidence OP meant that one.

yeah
unclear I think

@pomsky and edited to the answer itself

@Kulfy thanks for your comments here
I'm not feeling any appetite to engage with that question
I feel that if we don't collaborate actively with moderation, it just won't get done properly
many bad questions just won't get closed because there are not enough active reviewers
many people who are not active reviewers seem to feel that we are doing something bad
I resent the comparison with pleading for upvotes, which is something I find irritating
pleading for upvotes is just about rep shrug
it's not the same people doing that haha

5:10 PM
@Zanna Those comments was just to mark my active participation here on the site :D. Although I really wanted to write an answer but didn't have facts and figures since I'm using site since a year and Jacob might have many facts and figures that might weigh over my arguments.

It's only experience that tells me that close votes very often age away

pleading for upvotes is just about rep: Indeed. Considering long term they don't matter much
But for new users (like me) they matter to unlock previleges.

But I think there is a lot of subjectivity about what should get closed. I have my ideas about it. I think about visitors wasting their time

@Zanna Yeah. Once I was going through some of my past close votes and they do aged away. When my review ban was lifted, queue was 200+ but now it's 140+ and for me it's 50+.

@Kulfy Sure, I don't want to say reputation isn't important. I just mean it only benefits the person who has it. So it's not good etiquette
@Kulfy wow, great work :D
All moderation work seems at a low on the site
The queue should probably be bigger
I don't mean mods themselves are not doing anything haha
I mean I am not doing enough work hahaha
I wish this room was more active

5:17 PM
Sometimes I feel active participation is lacking somewhere.

I like it when we discuss posts here more

@Zanna You are also going to be mod in 2-3 days :-)

But I find myself talking about them in AUGR instead because not enough people in here
@Kulfy omg... if so, I would probably be like "er... folks what do you think about this?"

I was just going through question collection of 2016 elections and encountered this question by muru

For every decision

5:20 PM
@Zanna I guess you'll get a space in "the secret room"

@Kulfy great. I am a great fan of muru
@Kulfy sure, but I mean here. This room is my SE home
muru used to drop in here sometimes

But due to some issues I never interacted with him (IYKWIM :()

Yeah :(
He doesn't waste words

@Zanna But this is very much inactive like Ask Ubuntu

Lol

5:24 PM
@Zanna I can't comment on this :/

It's not that inactive
Work is being done
But at other times it was more active
Depends who is present

Indeed. You might have observed that I mentioned about this room in one of my comment

I keep meaning to try to initiate more discussion here
@Kulfy I did.

Sometimes I think that this room might get little bit more inactive if you become mod since you'll get that hammer and you might need to think many times before using that.

I should say that while this room was active in past times, it was not many users, but much activity
@Kulfy that's what i mean, I'd need to ask y'all haha
I would have to try to be more like Eliah Kagan

5:29 PM
@Zanna I haven't seen any mod doing that.
@Zanna Never interacted with him too. I guess I have missed many things joining the community lately :(

@Kulfy maybe I shouldn't talk about them. But you know the transcript is indelible. It's all here to read. You can have a peek at what the room used to be like easily

But that won't be interesting IMO since I can't go into the past and question them (which I like the most).

Check out this day for example

Reading...

@Kulfy true... I'm thinking more about how great the room used to be. I want it to be like that

5:40 PM
Was this room frozen in the past?
I guess here messages got reduced by ~90%.

Yes... long story
When I joined this room had been frozen for years
There was another janitor's closet too... I forget its name

What was the name of this room back then?

One day jokerdino asked for some help cleaning up some posts and I volunteered for that and went into that janitor's closet
@Kulfy this room was called Crusaders of the Lost Downboat
The name change is part of the story

That was a good name xD

Anwar was also active for a time back then

5:44 PM
:P
Once I visited trello and found A-Z

Somehow Anwar and jokerdino and I started that Trello project to clean up self answered questions
I must get back to that!
It was much more active then...

Is that project dead?

Not dead!
Sleeping a bit

Hibernating?

At some point some users wanted to use that room we were using for our cleanup project to test an annoying bot they had written
We resisted a bit
But in the end jokerdino just unfroze this room for us to use instead

5:48 PM
@Zanna Which one?

I asked for the name to be changed because I didn't want to be a crusader
@Kulfy that bot does not exist any more
Afaik
That room was called Ubuntu Regulators
I found it here

@Zanna That's human nature to use all resources they can get.

Last message posted more than 700 days ago
@Kulfy hmm?

@Zanna I think I encountered that once
@Zanna Test bot in chat rooms

@Kulfy I didn't get you. What resources?
@Kulfy you explored a lot :)

5:54 PM
@Zanna Like testing what they designed everywhere

They could have made a room for it

@Zanna Indeed. I like going through historical posts. And in some posts such chatrooms are mentioned.

It broke our timeline, you know, couldn't search for messages in same room etc

@Zanna Might be feeling too lazy to do that

So I was annoyed

5:56 PM
@Zanna the bot?

@Kulfy having to move to another room I mean
But it's ok. There is infinite space for chat rooms...

Oh you mean messages were in different chatrooms

Yeah
The recent history of this room started here
It was awesome then too. Then it became quiet because jokerdino and Anwar were too busy

Room was frozen for 4 long years. But out of curiosity I just wanna ask, why didn't y'all considered creating a new room but instead revive the older one.

Then Eliah came and pomsky also and it was good again
Then it became quiet again
But you came and you are keeping it alive now :)
@Kulfy maybe so that the room would have a new life
But I have no idea what the real reason was. It was jokerdino who suggested coming here. I just agreed to it
Shall we ask him?

6:11 PM
I know pomsky since last year. He was the first one to help me out when I posted my first question. You edited some of my initial posts on main as well as meta.Thank you for that :) I remember the discussion we had in comments on meta.
@Zanna May be.

@pomsky is doing great work here :D

I agree.

@Kulfy I can't ping him though :( maybe he will lurk by some time soon

@Zanna Or you can invite him and leave a message?

Good idea
Hahaha I invited him. I've never used that feature before
Going to sleep
Good night
Thanks for chatting @Kulfy :)

6:26 PM
@Zanna I used that only once when I wanted to address @mature for his edits.
@Zanna Good night. It was nice chatting with you :)
