@Zanna same here, couldn't cast a delete vote as it feels like suppressing the voice of discontent

@pomsky :)

but from their previous posts I think it's safe to assume they're a bit of a zealot :-p (cc @Videonauth)

hell wait what he has almost overall negative on his question and answers but still has 150 reputation O_o
ah ok was the meta profile, he seems to have some stuff being upvoted too

I remember they straightaway compared the "be polite" policy to holocaust!
Also name-calling and stuffs
called me a nazi! :-D
for translating a question posted in non-English

@pomsky um...
@pomsky pretty sure that's not something the Nazis engaged in...

giggles

10:22 AM
@Zanna I'm not even kidding, I swear! :-D (comments under this answer by @terdon)
pretty high quality trolling!

@pomsky well just as reading this, this guy has now a pretty high number of - signs accumulated.

I'm just speechless right now, really, this is absurd and i applaud terdon's patience there really. If i would have been in his place this guy would have had a downtime.
Well ok enough of reading this guy, this makes me angry, really angry
@pomsky Well as long you won't let it near you . You're a good one in my eyes, and what they say is what it is, to be exact trollshit

10:40 AM
@pomsky hahahaha
In that case, by all means, leave this horrible place and never look back. — terdon ♦ Jul 26 '18 at 8:51
best terdon comment ever XD

yes, I'm really amazed which patience terdon has shown there
If this guy would have called me antisemitic I would have ban hammered him straight away as this is a touch thematic for a german
very touchy subject really

that would have been fine. It's 100% evident this person is a troll. No need to engage

10:55 AM
I really have to restrain myself of posting something on this

haha I recommend not doing that

Well I fuming right now the more I think about this
And to know that his guy probably not have the slightest clue about what he said there is even more infuriating

trolling means deliberately posting things to provoke negative emotional responses
this person just wants to bait people and laugh at them getting upset
if you are getting upset, they are winning

true that, it isjust that iI have been called a nazi often already in my life and no one out of my family was every really involved there, my grandpa fought in russia for his country and nearly left his life there in stalingrad, my other granddad was neraly 15 years a prisoner of war in russia
and sure they had a choice but the consequences of running away or standing up against the regime to that time where dangerous (dead in front aof a shooting squad)

wow :O they must have amazing stories

11:03 AM
so I'm kinda sensitive to that subject really
they had yes and most of em where scary as hell
and then reading this bullshit from obviously someone who had no brain nor idea what he is talking about makes me so angry you can not believe

@Videonauth yeah, and very many other folks are also sensitive to it. Hence mentioning it in order to troll and upset as many people as possible

Well time to do something productive here at home to bring my mind to another subject :)

me too

12:07 PM
@Natty tp

@Zanna Was my not clear? IMO they are asking to not to close questions which are specific to newer versions of softwares like GNOME where installation/troubleshooting procedure has changed "drastically". I pinged you so that I can get my answer reviewed and know if it is fine or something I missed.

I think that they are asking whether old questions should be closed against new ones when versions have moved on, to direct people to more up-to-date information
I posted a comment that was so long it became two comments, asking for clarification
It's really my problem understanding the question that makes it hard for me to understand the answer
but I got the impression you were answering a different question to the one I think they intended
I may well be totally and utterly wrong

Then should I consider the answer is not clear? Let me read Q&A once again just for a second thought.
> does this also mean that the old question with Gnome 3 answers to a Gnome 2 question should be removed or considered off-topic?
Not possible or a very tedious task I guess. On reading the question again, it looks unclear. I don't know what I interpreted while answering. lol :P

well, your answer got 6 upvotes, the answer even more... so, what did those voters interpret? I am quite confused

1:10 PM
I got only 2 words for this: Not sure.

haha agreed

;-)

Repetitively posted the same question 3 times in 2 days: 1 2 3

4:19 PM
Is that the right link?

5:12 PM
I think @pomsky meant this question which I found in linked section and it has a comment of pomsky too.

5:31 PM
@Zanna Oops, sorry. Thanks @Kulfy for the clarification.

@pomsky So the guess was right?

Yeah, I made the same goof twice before
(posting target link instead of the one to be closed)

@pomsky Happened with me once or twice. I copied the target link, voted to close and pasted the same link (target) here :P

5:52 PM
@Kulfy as far I know MATE is no official Ubuntu flavor

6:04 PM
@Videonauth It is. Refer: ubuntu.com/download/flavours

@Kulfy oh, TIL

Actually it seems to be a bug with the latest kernel. And bug reports are OT here. So, I thought I should ask before voting

6:40 PM
@pomsky no worries, couldn't investigate on mobile :) thanks @Kulfy

While I understand that this question is closed, what I can not understand that no one really seemed to have considered the given Information in the comments and wildly throwing advise around which is unfounded by any knowledge. :(
Welcome to AskUbuntu. From what I saw from your videos I must be hacked as well. No serious now all you have seen there was perfect normal for any Ubuntu installation, even the log messages. T give yourself peace of mind I would say download the ubuntu.iso file from ubuntu.com and then disconnect the machine after you made an USB installer medium, then install Ubuntu after having wiped your hard-disks completely. Just for you to know, your BIOS is fine. no one can so easily meddle with that. — Videonauth 3 mins ago

@Videonauth The question was closed at 12:22:15 UTC and OP gave updates (like video) in comments at 12:25:15 UTC. IMO comments were taken "too" lightly may be because that was a closed post with no updates at least in the question body.

Well like I said, I have viewed those videos and found nothing evident of a hack in them.

6:55 PM
Since in the question it is mentioned that OP is new to Linux and previously a Windows user. May be due to increasing security concerns of Windows made OP think about the security issues in Ubuntu as well. Or they are just "overthinking".

7:08 PM
My guess is on overthinking and having major paranoia syndrome
I can somewhat relate to that as i have an anxiety disorder on top of many other disorders

7:23 PM
I might have to ban myself from here for a few days

this room or the site

Because I really need to work, and the scope debate which turned into a huge meta post by Serg is way more than I can cope with

@Zanna Ow, why? You're an institution here on AU :)

I'm avoiding meta for that very reason lol

My deadlines are really really tight, gotta do a load of work

7:24 PM
I would end up spending 3 hours writing or smth

And people are giving me more work that I shouldn't have to do, not in my contract
And this too
Gotta get sleep
@Seth can you please suspend me for a week?
I don't have the discipline to just stay away
@Seth I must have spent at least that, and I have totally not got the time to spare
I gotta sleep
I'm repeating myself haha
@Videonauth haha
Somebody was saying stuff about me and at me in AUGR
Didn't like it
But I think I succeeded in deescalating it
Offline, non-work stuff is also... a total s***storm if I'm honest. I can't believe some of these things are even happening
Wow sorry this is not appropriate.
I better do something beginning with yo like dessert suggested instead of ranting here, sorry folks!
How can people talk down the words of Eliah Kagan? Sad sad times.
@Videonauth I use MATE!

@Zanna NVM I'm just an Ubuntu Gnome freak :D

Soon it won't matter anyway
It won't be Ask Ubuntu any more
Just Ask Me Anything
I'll rant to my parents a bit
They are good for that

Well maybe a day or two off will calm you down a bit. And as well may thicken your skin a bit again as yo seem stressed lately

8:43 PM
@Zanna if you really want I guess I could suspend you from chat, but I can't suspend you on main

8:54 PM
That would work @Seth, because chat is the most compulsive and the chat tabs are pinned - I could probably manage to just not open any other tabs :)
Seriously, that is such a restful thought
I will be really grateful

I mean, you could unpin the tabs :P
but ok

9:15 PM
You'll be missed zZanna, but take your time off and enjoy it :)

10:06 PM
but adding this question from agustin's comment to the targets would be helpful
