Today i installed elementary os loki, and installed some broadcom driver. Without knowing what drivers to install. It enabled my wireless option. It lists some wifi name, but not my wifi. How to fix this?

you can ask about that on elementary OS but make sure you give details of your wireless card. You can probably see them by running the command lspci -knn | grep -A2 Net

I don't know what i did but it showed broadcom 14e4:1713
Elementary os chatroom seems like everyone abandoned it years back. So tried this room.

broadcom is the worst

Yup
But how to fix this

@Man_From_India that's not enough info... you need the card name, something like BCM...
This room is not a room where people who know how to fix wifi hang out

5:21 PM
Ok. I will provide. How to know it?
@Zanna :'(

this question has instructions on how to run a script to get all possible useful info about your wireless
but you should be able to get the info with the command I gave up there ^^^^ did you try it?
lspci -knn | grep -A2 Net

@Man_From_India you should try our general room.. but it's the weekend :/

maybe you have a card that we already have a question about and it might help you

broadcom is a pretty common source of annoyance so we probably would have covered it

but hey it's weird that it lists all the other networks except yours...
maybe it's not the stupid card's problem but something to do with the stupid network...
aww I made him cry and then he went :(
I suck

this boat is not big enough to hide for long.

hides behind dino

Well previously i had the same issue in ubuntu
I can't remember how i figured out. Probably i updated the 3rd party driver from ubuntu gui
But here no such option.
I roughly remember someone mentioned that it has to be channel 13 or something. We need to change the channel
I have no idea how to change the channel.

seems to be kernel issue I guess

oh... I thought that channel changing thing was an ISP thing

the driver doesn't allow the adapter to see networks which are on channels 12 or 13..

5:41 PM
funky driver...
you change the channel on your router...

Q: Cannot see WiFi channels above 11 despite setting region

Ian MackinnonI'm unable to see WiFi networks with channels above 11, despite having set my regulatory region to one in which channels 12 and 13 are allowed. I followed the advice in the question 'How to use Wi-Fi channels above 11?' and set added a module parameter for my region. I have verified that the par...

yay for b43
I have a Broadcom card and it sucks also
the driver is very buggy
but, thank god, it's worked since kernel 4.4
@jokerdino nice! Haven't seen that one before

5:57 PM
@jokerdino i will try this

no promise it will improve your situation
it could even make it worse

@jokerdino :O
