@SmokeDetector edits nearly every post on the page
What's the point of this answer?

well nowadays we would flag the answer as NAA and flag the question as a dupe

Question is not a dupe, but Takkat already mentioned that post...

So, what is this answer actually saying?

uuuhhh ..... no clue
maybe it is magic happening in those comment inside the script
:)
or he would state that he removed the other lines this script usually contains?

Do you have that file?
My 14.04 system has it but my 16.04 system does not. It's still provided by the acpid package for all releases, though.

nope

and the one in /usr/share/doc/acpid/examples/powerbtn.sh looks completely different and is far far longer

@EliahKagan you need to press the power putton :)

$ sudo find / -name powerbtn.sh
/usr/share/doc/acpid/examples/powerbtn.sh

find: ‘/proc/2509/net’: Invalid argument

It's proivded by the acpid package. I think that's just not usually installed anymore. Your system doesn't have it, does it?

how you mean? if i press power button here the system shuts down normally so yes i guess it is provided by systemd
paste.ubuntu.com/26146409 this is how the example script looks like

Yeah, I have one that like that but a bit different on my 14.04 system, which does have acpid installed.

btw. instead of shutdown -h now you can simply type shutdown now

2:09 PM
I rarely use either.

Shutdown has a Windowsy ring ;)

I've voted to reopen this question (see my comment from before it was closed).
@Zanna Should it be expanded with excerpted information? Converted to a comment?

@EliahKagan convert to comment imho

6:15 PM
@Zanna There was never a reason to close this question (though I don't blame the cloe voters because it had originally talked about being on an EoL release... though it was always pretty obvious that the problem could not be specific to it). Can we reopen it? I think that question is quite valuable.
OT Debian (see comments). I'll try and comment later if nobody else does--this is probably a good case for migration--but I am hoping to get it closed with that correct sub-reason soon so that the totally wrong "no repro" sub-reason doesn't get used.

@EliahKagan I voted to reopen it first I think
that's why I'm not in the list of reviewers

Yeah I figured you might have. I was mainly replying for context.
I gotta run. When I get back I'll try and post another comment on that question... if nobody else has done so. I think it's a good case for migration--after it's closed--because it would be useful to have the edit history and probably also some of the comments.

me too, time for Skype lesson

Ah, you've commented. Thanks! I'll remove some of my comments when I get back if they're obsolete, though if anybody notices they are obsolete then they can flag them as no longer needed. (I'm not actually sure, without closer inspection, whether they are still useful or not.)

I hope that comment was loosely what you wanted to be said

It seems to me that Why doesn't Ubuntu remove old kernels automatically? should be closed as a duplicate of Why doesn't apt-get autoremove remove my old kernels?, or perhaps the other way around.

11:52 PM
Dupe. It maybe best to include a few of the other (many) questions we have on this as originals, besides the one I voted to dupe it to.
