@BeastOfCaerbannog Perhaps a knee jerk reaction to anybody talking about a root login? Always puzzled me as on my own system (Slackware) I have never setup sudo and routinely use root for installs / removals / editing system conf files etc. Difference audience in Slackware land though...
@BeastOfCaerbannog Perhaps a quick reading user has decided that 'ubuntu-vortex-24.04.iso' is an input file of an unsupported distro rather than the output file of the OP's custom Ubuntu respin
@andrew.46 My guess at this point is that there's a problem with either his user-data or grub.cfg file in his custom ISO. But I can't determine until I see his files. My testing shows that his xorriso command to create a new ISO works, and I can successfully install to a VM. I tested with Ubuntu Server 24.04.1 ISO.
@BeastOfCaerbannog I raised a custom flag on a post from the user pointing to their problematic behaviour, having noticed you kept having to reject their edits.
@karel also consider removing your close vote in the above question. It's not about Knoppix, it's about how to read files using Ubuntu from an old Knoppix installation.
@stumblebee Look what I found: If I add a break line by pressing "Shift"+"Enter" in a chat message, links won't be rendered correctly. For example, look how [your profile's link](https://askubuntu.com/users/767056/stumblebee) is rendered.
Perhaps this is what you were doing and the links were not rendered correctly in some of your messages.
