dupe The OP commented Thank you. Yes, that link does answer my question. I did not find that thread on an earlier search.

OT The OP edited his own question and wrote Sorry, this question doesn't belong here!
OT no-repro, OP wrote: After restart things went back to normal ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

this, this and this are no longer needed (I added the installation instructions in the answer).

seems deletable Answer was also unlikely to work since 14.10 reached EOL back then.

8:31 AM
the answer seems to recommend what the OP tried
then, seemingly, it recommends installing the build dependencies of git, which seems... wrong unless one is going to build it, which the answer does not seem to recommend
so why did that answer get 4 upvotes?
it goes on to mention that one need not use git to download repositories because there is another way of doing it
but, that is not the only use of git
that answer got 9 invisible low-rep/unregistered user upvotes too
it also got 12 invisible downvotes, but that is not surprising
the question itself has 6 such upvotes
I am really curious about what situation this Q&A can be helping people in

I assume visitors got there by searching "Not found" error message and didn't see the Ubuntu version. The answer may work on currently supported releases since apt update would refresh the available package cache.

that's possible

I think 9k views pretty explains that. But still answer is wrong considering the Ubuntu version OP was using

there seems nothing good about the page
better to delete it and prevent people wasting their time landing there

Yup.

Probably unclear but seems possibly on topic
Also the formatting looks wrong

this answer is intended as a comment confirming OP's fix which only exists in comments
Perhaps it should be edited, since it is apparently the answer.

@Zanna Halp!!!
Nevermind, I flagged the post for mod attention. I hope some other mod would look into.
Sorry for the ping.

3:41 PM
@Kulfy Post already reported

@Kulfy please feel free to ping :)
@Kulfy the one that was flagged as spam?
I wasn't happy about that
I left a comment, then it got blown up before the author had a chance to even read
but decided to wait and see if they edited their other posts
since they've shown good faith I cleared the flag :)

@Zanna Yes. Was the spam flag handled by mod? I thought you flagged as spam which caused the post to get deleted.
@Kulfy I'll fix that/edit that answer as well and/or remove the link... and yes indeed i had no notification for Zanna's comment — intika 5 mins ago

I did not
I left a comment and someone else flagged it as spam

They didn't get any notification for your comment. Weird.

that's good to know
I asked jokerdino if they would get a notification and he said he would expect so

3:45 PM
Yeah. Till now I believed that authors of deleted posts do get notifications.
Related to that situation, that reviewer is back and they're upvoting every post they review again. Err...

that seems to be the only review they have actually done so far

I assume their suspension was revoked couple of days ago. They have done 9 reviews so far.

only in LA, right?
idk why I didn't see that where I was looking

In LA, they did 7/9

this answer doesn't seem to be recommending anything much
changed link to the review^

@Natty fp This is an answer but for Windows. I don't think it's worth reporting to Natty
@Zanna Hmm. Were they really paying attention? Or they passed audit because of links and length?
@Zanna I can't figure out what they mean by "when you download lightdm from gdk3 it will change your gnome setting"

@Kulfy I actually suspect this person is not reviewing in good faith at all, so I think they just want to pass audits so they can continue to cause havoc
@Kulfy it's like step 1 do nothing in particular, step 2 do not much of anything, step 3 do something that can't possibly make any difference...

Maybe they have different criteria for a post to qualify as an answer.
@Zanna Does it look deletable?

@Kulfy to me yes
@Kulfy I didn't get you?

I mean that reviewer might have some other criteria for answers
(unrelated) This might be the first time ever FP=2*CV
I mean review items waiting to be reviewed.

@Kulfy I think many years ago it was like that
must review FPs...

@Natty tp
Considering the size of FP queue, does it look alarming?

@Kulfy I suspect they submitted the suggestion while I was doing my edit :(
@Kulfy tbh, I think I am biased w/r/t/ that person because they left an inappropriate comment on my nomination, and another one on this meta answer.

@Zanna The time difference between the edit submission and suggestion is ~2 mins. So maybe they were thinking what to change while you submitted the edit.
@Zanna I can't find those comments.

they were deleted, sorry

5:12 PM
Oh. No problem.

the nomination page doesn't have a way to see deleted comments. But I recall the comment said "@ terdon this is not a dating site". It made me laugh
a mod deleted that

Ah. I remember that.

the other comment was self-deleted, so I suppose they thought better of it
anyway since I am biased I will need some help on what to do about their bad reviewing
@Kulfy the question also seems unclear... like, where is the context for the title?
am I on a hiding to nothing trying to get people to review FP properly, I wonder

@Zanna That's the error message they're getting on extensions.gnome.org. See first screenshot. They don't seem to have GNOME as well.
Yeah "GNOME shell is not running". See last screenshot
Seems abandoned

thanks :)

@Zanna The problem appears to be on the host side (in VirtualBox on the host, not in the guest system) and the host strongly appears to be Windows bases on "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VBoxGuestAdditions.iso" in the error message. So it's probably off-topic.
