@CentaurusA @vanadium Hey guys, when reviewing posts lets not pile on comments that say the same thing please. It's noisy and often comes across as people "teaming" up on to them. Thanks :) (refer to the image above)
If you feel like something specific really needs to be added after someone else has addressed the main issue then go ahead, but please write a direct comment, don't use a canned one.

Consider a situation where the problem is caused because of network connection, like some specific repos failed to fetch. Will it be counted as Off-topic?
Actually I'm referring to this question. It looks like problem is because of network issues.

I don't think such questions are off-topic
in some cases, it may be sensible to close as no-repro

Yeah by OT, I meant No-repro. Sorry for that.

but if the problem is common, then it's better to answer, thinking along these lines
@Kulfy oh no need to be sorry, you are quite right - no-repro is one of the off-topic reasons (#4 iirc)
I meant, in my opinion a question is not necessarily off-topic just because it's not caused by something in the OS

@Zanna Disadvantages of having <10k rep: can't even look at the question Eliah mentioned as an example

see this message and the next one
@Kulfy sorry, here it is ^

9:04 PM
Thanks for the screenshot :)

the OP posted an answer saying what the problem was - the cable wasn't in properly. They posted a comment which you can (hopefully) see there with the same info
@Kulfy This is a question which I think would benefit from answering even if it's a problem with OP's connection or the local mirror or whatever
nice to see Sumeet Deshmukh is around again :) Not seen him for a long while
Also nice to see sudodus is on the case. I expect a good answer :)
@Kulfy any time :)

@Zanna Indeed. I took it as an example since OP mentioned it's working with diffrent internet. Therefore, I wasn't sure. by the way thanks :)

This question seems very clear to me... Don't understand the close votes
@Kulfy yes, great example. This type of question is indeed often closed as off-topic > no-repro, but I think that should only be done where the problem goes away by itself and there is no reason to think that others will be helped by an answer saying something like "this problem is temporary / serverside / caused by [external thing]; try again in an hour and if it's still down try contacting [relevant person]"

Yeah. Agreed.

:)
time to go to bed here I think XD
oh something interesting in AUGR about moderation
JMG talking... better have a look

I'll be here for another hour though it's already 3:00 here :P

voted, second one closed now

I'm going through my voting history to check whether all are closed :P

9:36 PM
@Kulfy Why OT?
I couldn't understand their problem clearly. But I didn't see any reason to vote OT. So when I saw it in the queue I skipped
@Kulfy that's a great thing to do

@Zanna I was not sure in this case. Might be unclear?
I don't remember vote I casted
Programming I guess

maybe you voted unclear - one person did. But 3 voted OT

@Zanna Not sure.

@Kulfy that's not a generic programming question at first glance - seems to be about setting up the environment / packages etc, end user issue and on topic

But they haven't specified what they tried and where they failed. There are tons of tutorial for that. I've mentioned one in comment. I believe they are not interested in getting answer anymore since they logged in yesterday and haven't clarified.

9:42 PM
@Kulfy maybe people think this is a generic programming question
@Kulfy so, it's unclear?

@Zanna Umm. May be yes

@Zanna which it may be. I do not understand what they are talking about well enough to say. Hence have not voted either way haha
@Kulfy But your comment actually looks somewhat like an answer to me :)

@Zanna If that's an answer it is OT then. :P

is it?
time to sleep... work tomorrow

Yes. Connecting MySQL and Java are considered as programming IMO. Same procedure is followed on every platform whether it is Linux or Windows.
@Zanna Good Night then :)

@Kulfy good night :)
