Please vote to reopen this question. By chance I discovered that it was closed as unclear 7 days after the answer to it was accepted. Also it's not the least bit unclear.

@Zanna why was this reopened? askubuntu.com/questions/1093677/… It's obvious that the read got executed and ate the input. The workarounds in the dupe will fix that. OP hasn't even provided a good reason for reopening - no evidence that they tried anything.

OT no-repro, Finally, I reinstalled Ubuntu. Possibly the worst solution but it worked.

@Zanna Probably because you may have reopened one of their questions before. I don't want to call them a troll outright, but they have done this sort of thing using several accounts in the past (specifically pinging people in chat asking for help if they seem even slightly helpful).
