Can someone help me to explain things to this guy? askubuntu.com/a/1093812/816190

@Kulfy seems too late to help with the explaining, but I added my delete vote
I think terdon does a good job of occasionally explaining to people why we're deleting their answer, as does Eliah Kagan when he's around
I think we really have to be humble in these instances and admit that the rules of our site are exceptional on the internet

good catch

@Zanna I thought at some point I was rude. Is it? Also, should I downvote the irrelevant posts of "New Contributors"? Just asking.

this guy started spamming again

9:02 PM
@Kulfy I always downvote posts that should be deleted because it makes it easier to delete them
votes are on the post, not on the user
so "new contributor" shouldn't make any difference to voting

@Zanna But just like this guy, they may cry for their lost reputation.

well, when your reputation is small, it's a struggle
I totally get that people want to earn a few points to get the basic privileges
but as you pointed out, when the post is deleted they get their reputation back

Indeed.

I guess I'm mean-spirited. I really care about the content on the site and its usefulness to visitors and the community. Not so much about people posting bad quality stuff and then getting upset when their post gets downvoted
I don't think you were being rude
but it does help avoid tedious comment arguments if you explain at the outset what's happening

Thank you @Zanna for sharing your thoughts about this. :-)

I might write something like "you've posted this as an answer, but we expect posts in the answer section to provide a solution, so we'll delete this post. I know you don't have enough reputation to post comments asking for information yet, but if you find some clearer questions to post answers to, you soon will"
@Kulfy :D any time

Woah! I think I'll type "This doesn't provide an answer" faster. :P

that's true. What usually happens is that I don't write anything :)

LOL
