Reposting it here: Did I see this right, that we have neither code block highlighting nor LaTeX support on the blog?

@halirutan MarkDown should be supported. You need to switch the editor to HTML view, then you can type MarkDown.
@halirutan I still need to look into using MathJax, that is indeed important.

To repeat something I emailed Szabolcs: I think an opening post should coincide with the site entering launched status. Perhaps it should be on the theme of "What Mathematica offers", with lots of links to posts on the site and maybe some posts on the Wolfram blog.
Is it possible to have multiauthored posts?

@Verbeia I'll find out if it is possible to have a post appear as signed by more than one person, but it is definitely possible for more than one person to have access to editing a post!
@Verbeia That's a good idea! BTW I created your account, check your Spam folder if you don't have an invitation in your inbox
So it seems we got a blog set up for us. It's here: mathematica.blogoverflow.com

We can have blog posts and 'pages'. The links to the 'pages' are on the navigation bar at the top. There are some drafts that need editing.
If you'd like to write a blog post, let me know, and I will create an account for you. This account will allow you to start writing right away, save posts as drafts, edit them gradually. They can be published at a later time.
MarkDown works---you need to switch to HTML view in the editor and type the MarkDown there.
Right now I have an admin account on the blog, which means that I can add new users, publish posts, etc. It'd be good to have several people who have admin access and who can help manage the schedule. Please let me know if you would like to help with this!

11:07 AM
@Szabolcs all good, not spam-caught. I have created my account.

I'll be leaving Wednesday GMT-morning, and I'll be away for about 10-15 days, so it'd be good I could more admin users before that.
Another thing about accounts: there are several "roles" that a WordPress account can have, which give different privileges. Right now I have added everyone with a 'contributor' role which means that you can start writing and working on posts, but not publish or manage others' posts. I did this because I am not yet familiar with WordPress and also to avoid people publishing something by accident while experimenting.
We might want to use higher privileges by default, we'll need to decide about this.

@Szabolcs good idea! We don't want to go off "half baked"

Also, it'd be good to have 'editors' who can review posts, correct grammar, etc.

@Szabolcs I volunteer for an editor role. Native speaker, and much of what I do professionally boils down to editing what my staff write.

@Verbeia Thanks, I was hoping you would help with that!

11:14 AM
@Szabolcs you might as well create accounts for everyone who posted on the blog question on meta.

I'll go for lunch now, I'll check back later. We'll need to fix the about page as well.
@rcollyer Just mail me the email address and the username you'd like to use!

@Szabolcs will do.

The only person whose email I don't know is @Mr.Wizard

12:04 PM
I'm volunteering as editor as well.

@Verbeia if it is a collaborative one (especially welcome posts, announcements, etc.) we can create a "Mathematica community" account and post from that

2:20 PM
@JM Just send me the email and username you'd like to use, and I'll create an account.
@RM Theoretically it's possible to handle that with a plugin, but it's probably better if we do what you suggested instead of bugging the SE team to install more and more plugins. Cooking.SE has a common account as well.
@RM Did you get my email?

R.M
@Szabolcs I just saw it a little while ago... scary :P

@RM Not that one, the other one :P
Sorry about that one.

R.M
yes yes, I'll respond to that soon
@Szabolcs heh, no worries. It was amusing :D
Thanks for sharing!

@halirutan MathJax is now set up. You need to put [mathjax] at the beginning of the post to enable it.

If you wish to contribute blog posts: contact me, and I'll set up a contributor account for you on the blog site. This'll allow to start working on drafts right away.

I'll be away for at least 10 days starting from Wednesday. It's best to have several administrators for the blog. If you want to help with this, let me know! What a blog admin needs to do is: keep the schedule, add new accounts, make sure that everything goes smoothly, keep in touch with the SE team when needed.

5:55 PM
room topic changed to Mathematica.SE blog: for contributors and editor of the Mathematica.SE blog (no tags)

We could use Trello to hand out work, etc.
@Szabolcs For the moment, though, I'll pass on admin duties. There's bound to be someone who'll step up before you go on vacation.

R.M
@Szabolcs I'll help with that. I sent you an email just now

@RM I didn't get it yet, Gmail acting up again?

Q: Running the Mathematica.SE blog

SzabolcsToday we got a blog, and for now I have an admin account. This post serves both as an announcement and for checking with the community on how to run the blog. How it could work Make sure you check the chatroom for blog-related discussions! It'll be easier to keep up to date with blog related ...

6:35 PM
@szabolcs Of course I want to contribute. Won't be able to do that often as I am quite busy. Would you think a brushed up version of the sun and home-improvement notebook would qualify?

6:51 PM
@SjoerdCdeVries Personally I did find it interesting! Just mail me the details: email and username (lowercase, only alphanumeric characters, but you can set an alternate display name)
@MrWizard And you too, just mail me the details!

7:16 PM
@Szabolcs I'll contact you soon.

@MrWizard Now you know why I was asking a few days ago!
I was asked to start a meta thread about CDF support to show the support of the community, so here it is. Reply or vote!
