@Sarvabhouma It was Dharma who was cursed by prairies. Confirmed from GITA PRESS version also. — SwiftPushkar 7 mins ago

@SwiftPushkar I think it's a mistranslation

@NogShine Do you think both gita press and Ganguli is mistranslating ?

Think like this. The mongoose was there when the Brahmin family washed the feet of Dharma. Its body became half gold due to touch of that. So, how did Dharma was there as guest and mongoose both?
@SwiftPushkar yes. There was no explicit mention that it was Dharma was was cursed.
I checked Telugu translation and it was Jamadagni

@NogShine You totally got it wrong , two versions are saying same thing . so could you please remove your first comment , and it was me who first posted the answer.

I was writing my own answer but there was some network connection problem. When the connection returned, 2 answers were there already. I didn't post mine.

@SwiftPushkar No, I checked translation of authors from 11th - 14th century in Telugu. It is Jamadagni. MK Ganguli and Gita Press had done mistakes in the past too. So, I can't trust them in this case. And the comment was deleted now. That was not at all needed. I was correcting the OP about selecting an answer. I don't know why that was deleted. It was a constructive comment about correcting the opinion of OP.

@NogShine -Ok ,BTW you can write the other answer also , with translation of the version you have. It's not like the accepted ans.is final. If you are correct the OP will choose your answer later. So i think add it no problem :-)
@NogShine -BTW time for me to leave ,will join late evening.BYE.:-)

In that case the answer of Hinduism (Ayurveda Perspective is no). Because using recreational drugs for meditation in limited quantity and u...

@TheDestroyer - What do you think about the answer ?

@TheDestroyer Since you have read many biographies of Yogi's , so is this issue discussed in them . I am just trying to discouraging the use of drugs in spiritual worship part. But since we haven't seen any direct quotes from scriptures , it is difficult , since we don't know what other texts like Tantra are saying or direct views of Sadhu's etc.
