Btw, I mistakenly read "Bahubali" instead of "Mahabali" in the title of @KeshavSrinivasan 's question! Haha

2:04 PM
@Pandya Haha
@Pandya By the way, have you watched both of the Baahubali movies?

@KeshavSrinivasan I watched 1st but not 2nd

@Pandya Oh, you should watch the second, it's even better than the first.

2:38 PM
@SwiftPushkar "Be Patient" very true!

2:51 PM
@SwiftPushkar Thanks. But I think that that Brihadaranyaka Upanishads verse (1.1.2) is just talking about how different races of beings rode on different species of horses. It's not talking about a group of gods called Vajins.

@Pandya haha lol... you read Bahubali...

Q: Rithambara Pragnya experienced by mathematician Ramanujan

NarasimhamRamanujan Video RajyaSabha The above link (in epilogue, time 52 min 39secs has at the very end) while concluding it mentions a stage of "Rithambara Pragna", an attainment of a direct cognitive power of Cosmic Order. Can someone throw light on how this happens and evidences from the past for ...

Is there reason to tag this question under VisistAdvaita? If so, does the answer accepted by OP reflect that?

@SwiftPushkar Thanks
@Pandya Baahubali fever... :D

@Tezz @Pandya I just posted a question about Adi Shankaracharya's Brahma Sutra Bhashya and Brihadaranyaka Upanishad Bhashya:
0
Q: Does Adi Shankarachaarya believe the existence of the soul requires scripture to establish?

Keshav SrinivasanIn Hindu philosophy there are three main Pramanas or valid means of knowledge: Pratyaksha or sensory perception, Anumana or inference, and Shabda or revelation/scripture. There is a hierarchy of these Pramanas: Anumana is only applicable to those things which cannot be known through Pratyaksha, ...

@Tezz Btw, are there many languages in Nepal? I thought only one "Neplai" but recently I met one person who spoke name of 5-6 languages of Nepal!

@KeshavSrinivasan Yeah, just saw it... interesting question...

@Pandya An edit is pending

@Pandya there are other secondary mothertongue languages also like Maithili, Bhojpuri, Kham, Newari, Tharu etc....
@Pandya ^^^

3:24 PM
@Tezz Adi Shankaracharya seems to be directly contradicting himself here.

@KeshavSrinivasan Yeah...
@KeshavSrinivasan I think Shankara did so in BSB because it is Nyaya-Prasthana Traya and so he is defending through logic also...
@KeshavSrinivasan furthermore Charvakas won't believe that if he says 'Soul exists because scriptures say so.' ... so he used logic in BSB...
@KeshavSrinivasan however the commentary in Brihadaranyaka Upanishad is only for those who are already Astika... so he used scripture (which is right source) here...

@Tezz Well, one thing Adi Shankaracharya does not do in the Brahma Sutra Bhashya is establish the existence of Brahman through inference. In fact he, like all the commentators on the Brahma Sutras, explicitly prove that the existence of Brahman cannot be proved through perception and inference, only through Sabda Pramana.

@Tezz ok
@SreeCharan tag correction?

@Tezz Even when he's trying to refute Buddhists and others who don't believe in Brahman, he never tries to use logic to prove that Brahman exists. So why would he decide to use logic to prove the Jiva exists, unless he sincerely thought it could be validly proved by logic?

@KeshavSrinivasan but where he thinks refutation of Charvakas in BSB, he should refute using logic... because it is reply for them.....

3:33 PM
@Tezz By the way, regarding the fact that the existence of Brahman cannot be proven through inference, I posted a question about one of the arguments regarding that here:
3
Q: Has anyone responded to Ramanujacharya's refutation of the Cosmological Argument for the existence of God?

Keshav SrinivasanIn Western philosophy, one of the most common arguments for the existence of God is the cosmological argument, which states roughly that everything has a cause, and so the Universe must have a cause, namely God. (There's also a more sophisticated version of the cosmological argument developed by...

@KeshavSrinivasan your questions sometimes look long like an Adhyaya but found simple & interesting once we start to read! Haha

@Pandya Haha

@KeshavSrinivasan Oh I think it's the longest question of this site....

@Tezz Haha, it used be slightly shorter but then people were too lazy to read Ramanujacharya's long quote so I had to provide a summary of Ramanujacharya's argument at the end.
@Tezz I think this used to be my longest question on the site:
7
Q: How does Ramanujacharya interpret Upavarsha's quote about the soul?

Keshav SrinivasanAs I discuss in this question, by far the most popular school of Hindu philosophy is the Vedanta school, which bases its tenets on the doctrines laid out in the Brahma Sutras, a work by the sage Vyasa that summarizes and systematizes the philosophical teachings of the Upanishads. You can read the...

@KeshavSrinivasan but summary is needed there... haha...

3:44 PM
@Tezz But then I took out a big quote by Ramanujacharya from the Upavarsha question because people were complaining the question was too long.

@KeshavSrinivasan Oh ok... ЁЯШАЁЯША
