I'm not certain what exactly started the issues that have recently been raised in meta, but I'm tempted to ask/bounty a question in meta about how to raise these concerns (not moderator issues, but the inciting incident) correctly
Like, a better worded "what to do if someone makes a harmful answer to a question"

@AncientSwordRage you can view deleted posts, i believe? islam.stackexchange.com/a/61211/22 islam.stackexchange.com/a/61213/22 and islam.stackexchange.com/a/61321/22 are the answers i deleted to spark this latest wave of modhate.
there were no private messages or deleted comments involved, either there or on the relevant meta threads. everything's out in 2k-public.

@goldPseudo thanks for the info
I definitely see issue with the first and last link
but I may not have fully comprehended the second (middle) link

in the context of the first post, the second one was doing pretty much exactly the same thing that the first one was deleted and messaged for.

@goldPseudo ah more of a stop doing this, and they carried on

except this time not-so-subtly jabbing at "savage Colonialist campaigns", "the non-scientific attitude of mainstream Muslim scholarship" and "the Western atheist paradigm of science and civilization" etc.
it was posted shortly after the first one was already deleted and messaged.

@goldPseudo I can see how, in context, those would be inflammatory things to say

the fact that the question itself really should've been closed before it ever got answered didn't help.

@goldPseudo out of those three, only really the first one is properly troublesome
and even then, colonialism is largely condemned these days

perhaps. but especially in Islamic circles the term "Colonialist" is often used as a synonym for "European", or "Catholic", or "Christian".
or "Western" civilization in general.
there are so many ways the post could be written without jabbing at anyone while still answering the question. i can't help but see the word choice and the entire answer as deliberate and hostile towards "the West".

@goldPseudo I think sometimes a post needs to be taken at face value
@goldPseudo 'Atheist paradigm' isn't exactly a jab
'non-scientific' might be

it's not any one turn of phrase. it's the entire post.
"Why isn't the Islamic world more advanced?" // "Because of the West."

@goldPseudo Ahhhh, thats what I didn't read into it

10:22 AM
that'll learn me to just read the answer
and not the question

There are many Theories about that, but Allah made clear "That is because Allah would not change a favor which He had bestowed upon a people until they change what is within themselves" (8:53 and in 13:11)
There's no doubt that stagnation started within the Muslim ummah itself.

@Medi1Saif My understanding was that the 'golden age' ended at Ghizali?
or at least was started in the same time period

Al-Ghazali made a huge efforts to reactivate the ummah with his Ihya' and it helped ... at least for a while
@goldPseudo among all Muslim sects I've met there are conspiracy theorists
And sometimes I get the feeling the closer you live to the middle east the more you'll find

@goldPseudo Did you know you can actually squeeze in 80 downvotes in one day? There's a gap between the start of a new day, and when the roomba kicks in. So if you downvote 40 questions during that time period, which then get roomba-ed, you get to make another 40 (:
