Q: Justification for terrorism

SSpokeIt is common knowledge today that Extremist groups such as Al Qaeda (a Muslim group) blew up the towers. Is there any source of this carry out terrorist attacks in multiple areas of the Quran? I have heard that Muslims say that Allah told them to do it world. Is this true? Do they base the...

I am loving data.stackexchange :)

data is fun.
i still need to learn how to actually write proper queries. i'm mostly at the point of "find something that does mostly what i want and tweak a line or two"
data.stackexchange.com/islam/query/197117/… <-- here's how our voting compares to the other religious sites

We have lowest up/down ration :)

not sure that's a good thing.
good that bad posts get downvoted, yes. not so good that we have so many bad posts that get downvoted.

heh. old data.
the top-ranked question for me on that list is the one i just answered the other day. the stock options one.

<showoff>Do you mean the questions where I granted you 50 rep?</showoff>
Wouldn't it be nice if community♦ bumped those questions once in a while?
(I wonder if I can put ♦ into my username)

@Hamza Wa Alaikum salam
@Hamza The hadith mentioned in the question is inauthentic and Batil(باطل)/Munkar , the sanad is from Azzahree(الزهري) but some of the people in the few Asaneed of this hadith are people unknown (مجاهيل) , all of it's Turuq (طرق) are Da'eef

Q: Do the mods have the right to abruptly close down questions based on bogus pretext?

infatuatedThis question got abruptly closed down by a moderator wielding of executive power ! on non-clarity pretext which was rendered completely bogus at least after the edits I made (assuming that the pretext was not bogus from the beginning), and useful comments swept out with no explanation! This, I t...

Thanks @AlUmmat when you here such a thing you can't believe it that our prophet(saw) have said that and one more question what is Da'eef
@AlUmmat infatuated is angry on you!

@Hamza simply put, Da'eef is translated to weak

okay I don't know arabic sorry.

@Hamza :)

2:24 PM
@AlUmmat do you think closing this question islam.stackexchange.com/questions/13221/… is a good idea?

3:05 PM
@Hamza yes I do.
The questionnaire seems to be asking two questions at the same time, the first is a good one, the second one is asking about the supposed changing of the Mut'ah after the Prophet and how that can be justified, the second question, if asked alone, I would have closed as too opinion based, actually for the second part I think there was a question already asked in regards to that (not sure) so it would have been duplicate

@goldPseudo I want to divert your attention to BleedingFingers. This user is downvoting my answers for no reason. I mentioned a URL in an answer and quoted some text from that URL. He did not like it because he thinks I only copied and pasted it.

3:41 PM
@AlUmmat Concurred. I actually overlooked that second question. In fact the last line. Sole because the starting para said, for example. And I thought it was just an example and wouldn't be asking anything.
Can one retract reopen votes?
I doubt though.

@BleedingFingers I don't know, sorry

@Farhan moderators really have no control over who does or does not downvote anything, or why they decide to do so. what constitutes "useful" is very subjective.
unless it's a regular and consistent case of serial voting (which I'm not seeing any evidence of here), there's really nothing we can do.

My finals are over!
And I have found my lost flash disk that I lost 1-2 months ago. I am pretty happy today :D

i'm just happy i'm not doing school anymore. :p

5:09 PM
I will be happy about that too soon in-sha-Allah

5:50 PM
@BleedingFingers i'd say yeah.
close to the line, but it reads highly anti-LGBT. combined with the fact that it's pretty much irrelevant to the actual question.
definitely warrants deletion as not-an-answer.

"rubbish" and "transgressors" cross the line
agreed

if it was actually relevant to the question, it could've probably been edited for neutrality without much difficulty.
but as it stood, i just deleted it and left the offensive flag in place.

@AlUmmat, that the question on mut'a would be "too opinion-based" is debatable. There are evidently those who disagree!

not sure which question you're talking about, but pretty much anything that has a known difference of opinion (e.g. mut'a) runs the risk of "too opinion based'.
unless it's asking for either one side or the other, or requesting a summary of all sides.

@infatuated and evidence which disagrees with those who disagrees, but I would still close as too opinion based, and yes it may be debatable. Really I am still unsure if there is even a duplicate question for that on this site, I haven't taken time to search

@goldPseudo summary of all sides seems too broad

8:02 PM
@goldPseudo, as for the specific example of mut'a there are only two major sides to the debate. And if question regarding sectarian difference are to be dismissed as "too opinion-based" then there's a greater risk of abandoning a big deal of crucial questions on Islam as "too opinion-based". In fact, being opinion-based, so long as the sides provide their supporting reasons must not be considered unfit of an idea.

9:10 PM
@infatuated the problem is just one of "which is the right answer?"; in the case of clear difference of opinion, both sides will have well-supported answers, but if there's no way of judging which of them is "more right" voting breaks down.
we do not want answers to become a popularity contest between different schools of fiqh etc.
so if a question is asking about such a case without specifying criteria for what exactly an answer should contain, it runs a very real risk of being too opinion based.
