no of course it isn't a good question, the questionnaire is assuming the hadith is authentic hence he is asking for it's meaning, but if a hadith is not authentic all the answer would be is "The hadith is not authentic", and hence any explanation given after that is pointless and useless
@goldPseudo no there is no doubt :) but I have never heard of a closing reason being there was no translation, or because some did not realize there was in fact the sources given
or even because a "sect" was not specified
all in my opinion are poor reasons except for maybe the translation one
the translation issue is tricky. on the one hand, you could argue that anyone who is qualified to actually answer this question can read a hadith in Arabic.
on the other hand, we are an English site for an English audience.
i don't think sect specification is really an issue. even if the quoted resources are Shi'a books (which I'm pretty sure they are), it doesn't really matter as long as the hadith is assumed authentic.
the same hadith, or a variation, could well be present in Sunni books for all I know.
@goldPseudo only one of the references provided in the questions is Shi'a I think, the other is a so called "Sunni" reference and the exact hadith can be found in a number of references that is I am not talking about variations
