@jmort253 Good morning. :)

@jmort253 Do you think all the s/SCRUM/Scrum/g edits on pm.stackexchange.com/questions/6249/… qualify as trivial?
@jmort253 They aren't wrong, but I thought they were trivial, and I have some heartburn about people changing direct quotes in answers which have the potential to misrepresent authorial intent. --In this case, a rollback would just increment the wiki counter for no good reason, and I'm not sure I disagree with the edit enough to do that. I just wanted some feedback on the "triviality index" before I metafy my $0.02 in typical style. :)

@CodeGnome Here's how I define triviality of edits:
If there is one misspelled or misrepresented word, and it's important enough to edit, I'll fix it, but at the same time, I also fix other issues with the post, since edits should be substantial.
If there isn't anything else to fix, then "substantial" could be defined in terms of quality than quantity. Scrum is an important word on our site, and I believe Lunivore's edits make it look more like a site for professionals.
Fixing that one word has a big impact on the posts, IMHO.
Finally, I'd agree on your point about quoted messages, that they should include any misspellings. But, since Lunivore was on a mission to protect this very important term, she also edited the original post that you quoted from, so that your quote and the original post match.
Editing is an important part of the quality aspect of the site, and I encourage more people to work towards the Strunk & White and Copy Editor badges :)

line break :)
If this went into the review queue, I'd scan the post for other errors. If the person didn't fix everything (or most of everything), I'd reject and then edit it myself. But if there was nothing else to fix, or most things were fixed, I'd approve.
So.... why do we not like trivial edits?? It pushes the questions to the top of the page and can clutter it up needlessly.
But in this case, everyone who visits the "active" tab learned something new. The correct way to spell "Scrum" :) Hope this helps!! :)

@jmort253 For my part, I mostly hate trivial edits because they increment towards community wiki. I agree that this particular edit was okay, since it was fixed across all posts, ensuring both the question and the quoted text remained aligned.
