On this i have several hunches to follow. But I am very reluctant to upgrade to that OS version yet, on all machines, but especially on that old one. So, can someone here point me to the most relevant changes regarding basic filesystem architecture changes? Specifically for getting to know why sudo mv moving a kext might change its permissions in the question's scenario? (I expect a glitch in following the guide, but read that 10.15 changed / …

And as it now appears that it isn't a simple permissions error. Still, if one has a good pointer to start on Catalina changes to filesystems and how to deal with them, I am still interested in that.

@ankii Short answer, yep, have tabs open. Long answer - I'm logged in to SE on multiple devices and most of them are on 24/7. Ever since being elected as a Mod I found it's easier for me to catch flags etc as I'm often between locations.
