@Jagra Yes - you might just break the RAID using the utility. End up with 4 drives and work on trying an install to one of the newly empty volumes...
Pulling the card isn't something I'd mess with unless you were prepared to lose all the data. Have a backup and the time to reinstall from DVD or other and test the optical drive before "surgery"
If it fails - then you would be forced to remove it - but if it's more a sleeping dog - let it sleep
