There is no need to log in to individual accounts, at least with more modern versions of OS X. You can set access privileges for managed accounts from within the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences without leaving your own account.

iOS seems to refuse to allow me to email "long" voice memos, and I'm unaware of any way to extract them from iTunes backups of my phone. How can I retrieve entire voice memos that aren't really short?
Moshe - not to pick on you, but here's an example of where you asked a question and didn't even check the user manual. We're OK with questions that lack any amount of research from occasional newcomers, but with 2 thousand plus rep, if we all just are here recreating the entire iPhone user manual by asking elementary questions and getting the answer documented here might be a reason why some are down voting your questions lately.
I'm not going to say I know the purpose of the site - since it's really in the hands of the entire community - but I do know I really like that I can come here and find the really hard to answer questions. When you ask a question and frame it with links to the user manual (since you read up on the problem before posting it) and clarified that you followed all the steps and still have a problem, that seems to get more up votes.
The new people are thankful that they learned there is a manual and it's simply that they need to connect to iTunes and look for a voice memo playlist. And the experts also get to vote it up since they don't think "GRRR - RTFM, dude"
By reframing the question - you attract votes from both the expert community and the beginner community.
No question is going to please everyone, but some questions please very few people.
I'll admit I've been stockpiling questions since the last promotion. Not based on inside information -- as a, ◆ I did get a tip off that this was coming, but had been stockpiling questions long before on the expectation that there would be some new promotion. I figured it would be for a hat or stickers or something, though, not this.
But I actually am starting to like how long this promotion runs. We'll likely max out on prizes, but it will raise the bar for what it takes to win one, and only people with sustained quality participation (i.e. the behavior we actually want to encourage) will be likely to win.
I expected we'd give out exactly 2 iPads and maybe 3 or 4 Touches.
And I have a list of names of my predicted winners.

My company just updated to Lion, and I really like the gray linen texture that's used as the initial login screen background. I'd like to use it for my desktop background, but it's not one of the options in the Desktop preferences (in the Apple section, anyway.) I'm assuming the graphic exists so...

OH - I'm all for three to 5 "basically" exact questions at this point after seeing how it works on other sites and seeing as a moderator how well the system works.
For me to close as a dupe is going to be rare indeed. I'm much more likely to close as bad, too open ended than dupe.
And too localized is becoming the highest bar to cross - there's little that hits that criteria for closing without hitting some other bar first.
Yup - easily 20% of the questions I have asked here are basically close to something that was already asked - just phrased differently - asking for a different constraint, needing another solution.

@gentmatt At some point ANY path that is sufficiently long will break onscreen, code formatted or not. So your fix might work for this particular path, but isn't a cure-all for the problem.

It's nice to see that sock puppets are getting suspended. One thing that I don't understand is why answers to closed questions don't count for the contest.
If it was a high quality answer, and people upvoted it, shouldn't it count?

Several users here would surely meet the required votes without the content in mind. But most of them (at least me) would not share posts with their peers that much.
StackExchange seems to me like an omnipotent higher being. Nobody can tell you who they are or what their agenda is, but they're still there pasting a giant iPad in the background of the site.
There's no agreement what the aims of the contest are. Obviously it's a promotion, and promoting the site is one of the aims, but it could also be to get people to use it better, hence the requirement for a few higher voted scores to advance into L2 and 3.
I would rather existing users who were here before the promotion were given the carrot, because I think a tighter community of good answerers is perhaps more beneficial to the aims of the site than a larger number of askers, and most of the new guys seem anecdotally at least to be largely askers
