Obviously, I know this isn't a realistic concept that we can implement right now, but what are your thoughts on having a language learning blog later in the future?

2:30 AM
@fi12, we could do that, but it'd be unofficial; SE have retired the blog overflow platform

Q: We're no longer starting new individual site Community Blogs - here's why

Grace NoteWe've learned a lot by creating these per-site blogs for any site which asked for them. However, we at Stack Exchange have not been doing enough to make blogs work - neither for the contributors nor for the communities that are associated with them. On our network, any site will have generated s...

Hmm
It's not on-topic, but I can't think of the close reason

Q: Should the mods close uncleared questions?

OokerWhy retain vocabulary when there are dictionaries? I'm not complaining why my question is closed. Let's just say that some people think that it should be closed, and one of those people happens to be a mod. Since the mods don't need to vote to close on a question (because the "vote" will effect ...

@LanguageLearningMeta Yeah, why not?

@TIPS Just because the official blog platform has been shut down doesn't mean we can't create an unofficial blog. Look at Worldbuilding's blog, it's hosted on Medium, another blog platform

@fi12 Well . . . How can I put it? I appreciate your bright vision of this site's future, but I really think this site has to wait at least a couple of years before thinking about such things.

4:27 PM
@TIPS I completely agree that mods should close certain questions; that's precisely why mods are even given the ability to mod-hammer questions. But this is where I disagree with you: "No extra scope will be determined with their leaving it to three other non-Mod people." Incorrect. These "non-mod people" are other high-rep users who are helping to shape this site's scope in its early days; it's not just moderators who are setting the scope of the site. Also, regarding your last statement, I wasn't talking about this one question (I agree that this question should be closed). — fi12 1 min ago
Whatever man, I don't get you.

5:00 PM
@TIPS it doesn't matter if the mod is the fifth close voter, because anywho closes it the question will be closed anyway. But if they closed it too soon, there is a chance that the question will be clear after having a good answer. There are several examples on this site. Nevertheless, if you still hold your point, I suggest you to convert it to an answer, so we can see how people think about it. Only in answer form, your thought will be able to be measured. — Ooker 22 mins ago

Why didn't I post that message two hours ago? O_o

This question sounds a lot to me like "Why bother learning a language when there are translators in the world?" — Flimzy ♦ 2 days ago
@Flimzy really interesting question — Ooker 2 days ago
Uh, I really doubt that.
Honestly, it's looking for the benefits of retaining vocabulary.
And that would also be too broad.
So a question that should be closed by more than one standard is being discussed on the meta because a mod voted to close it and all of this belongs to some time ago.
Am I the only one who sees continuing the discussion absurd?

@LanguageLearningMeta interesting note, he talks about >=500 rep users.... and how there's three moderators
I was going to edit, but then I realised while there are four moderators, there's not four moderators with >=500 rep ;-;
