11:00 PM
The seven "solved" sudokus yield...
1 x SENULECLNEOGSIUN
1 x SENULICLNEOGSEUN
2 x SENGLECONELUSION
2 x SENGLICONELUSEON
1 x SINGLECONCLUSION

whoah! gotta add that

I found this one, but decided it was too hard...
.6.87....1......2...4.3..56......81.8...9..7......6...2.76....4.9...3.8..3.9....‌7
87 solutions, 1 of which is SINGLECONCLUSION

too hard because of the multitude?

oops numbers are letters obv
you end up with S???????N???S??? after a diabolical journey

and you got to take that journey while others didn't

11:04 PM
well I wrote a solver already :)

not sure i yet understand how the order comes out, but i have difficulty thinking and chatting at the same time

which helps
order?

e.g,
1 x SENULECLNEOGSIUN

1 x means one of the seven

maybe catching on

11:06 PM
1+1+2+2+1 = 7

is that the order they read in the sudoku, left-right top to bottom?
(understood the 1x, ..., not the order of the letters)

that is (PA) (IR) ...
PA is S in all of them for example (since it is a solved cell)

thanks, think i get the whole picture now
and it just has to be added to the solution
(might take a day or two)

I can post a pretty pic if you want too...

oh if you have one ready to go, please do

11:09 PM
will prep and post...

yeah!
speaking of answers from pos(t)ers, @ffao, if you're watching, i learned a lot about barycentric coordinates and linear programming from your Let's make Mango Orange Apple Juice! puzzle but have a question about a comment
You can make the solution even more symmetrical by putting the company mixtures in barycentric space too (after all they also have obvious barycentric representations). — McFry May 12 at 4:08
(by the way, by "poser" i mean one who poses a puzzle)
I was wondering what that comment meant about putting the mixtures in a barycentric space too. Doesn't the answer already do that?

I wonder what that comment means too
If I knew I would have edited it in :P

thanks, could ask the commenter i guess, maybe they can edit it

I hadn't thought about the connection to LP either

you wouldn't mind, i suppose, as you fixed my answer once

11:18 PM
It's awesome when people improve my answers, why would I mind

oh, it brought linear programming and barycentric together for me!
two topics i've been intrigued by
your final comment about triangulation could almost go first
but might not make enough sense there

Yep, that's what I thought when I put it at the end
You need to explain why you're talking about polygons when the question itself mentions zero geometry

right, but it's such a neat way to look at it

ok @humn added pics of my notes to Wesley's answer

took me on an imagined maze of edgewise links
(going to peep at the addition)
gorgeous!
is the solution complete now?

11:24 PM
yes
I only added interlace because pairwise... may not have been clear on it's own as a self-referential function

interlaced like a blooming trellis! complete with a flower garden now

bit annoyed I didn't realise 0-ph was NOT infinite acidity (as pointed out by f'')

let it go let it go

nobody was misled

11:28 PM
was surprised how quickly the crossword was solved given the lack of position information :)
and was a shame that brute force apps gave the actual solution to the sudoku and not one of the other 6

really (about the crossword), and there was so much to it that i thought the puzzle had been all but solved at that point
i found an online sudoku solver that gave all 7
yours?

yes I think many people thought that - only reason I kept adding hints :p
don't think any hints were actually necessary except for advertising purposes ;)
mine will yes

i meant is yours online?

oh, no
is just Python code I run in cmd line

i knew the online solver was a good one when it matched what you said

11:31 PM
heh
so now back to my two unsolved puzzles? :D

right! i like to take days/weeks mulling over one puzzle at a time
usually don't have the luxury, though, until someone else has solved it
keep thinking i see patterns in the linked #s puzzle, please have patience
suspect that question_answerer sees a lot more in the Strange Correspondence puzzle

maybe

q_a is very familiar with odd alphabets

well he did suggest [language]

oh, gotta be loving it
ah, but Jonathan, i've been riding another puzzle for a couple of weeks (after it was solved)
and have almost completed an alternate solution that exalts math-as-puzzle

11:40 PM
too busy with real life I guess
oh?! which puzzle?

Q: Rewritable punch cards

BaSzAtPunch cards are boring, primitive, non-rewritable storage devices. Or are they? Indeed, a punch card that is filled to the brim with data seems impossible to write upon. Once you punched a hole through a piece of paper, you cannot unpunch it. But wait a minute! For sure, you can make some new ...

ahh
that one confused me had to chat with BaSzAt

turns out that an almost-most-obvious solution is optimal
i learned from your back-and-forth with BaSzAt

I tried to prove it but found it hard to
Please enlighten me later if you were successful :)

11:43 PM
oh you might like this, though my math could have mistake
i did make a mistake at one point that led me to what looks like a nice solution
but it's on slightly different terms than the puzzle was stated
where i go for average lifespan of a card
rather than a predictable one
here's a preview:
or two:
you can get ~4 bits per card from single-hole cards, not bad

You guys ready for the rebus of a lifetime?

the one that won't be ready for a couple days?

It's ready now

ohohoho
(looking to see if it's posted)

Q: #1 of the Memebus™

Gordon Allocman What phrase does this rebus represent? (Apologies in advance for MSPaint skills)

11:54 PM
no answers yet, Gordon
be patient

It requires a knowledge of a variety of topics, though it's not entirely difficult, I mostly just made it for fun

(don't know who's in those pictures, but do know how to use google image search)
bingo on Andy Bernard
