8:00 PM
If I haven't mentioned it @HughMeyers, I really like this puzzle, and the storyline setup.

She should be Hugh's girlfriend:
Huguette Delavault (15 January 1924 – 2 April 2003) was a French mathematician, specializing in mathematical physics. == Education and career == Delavault was born on 15 January 1924, in Andilly, Charente-Maritime; her parents were both teachers. She studied at a school for teachers, the École normale d'instituteurs in La Rochelle, France, from 1940 to 1943, and then became a student at the École normale supérieure de Fontenay-aux-Roses from 1946 to 1949. After interrupting her studies for health reasons, in 1952 she passed her agrégation in mathematics. She became a researcher at CNRS from 1952...

I think Hugh needs to show us his notes that he showed his girlfriend. Haha
The wording of "dumb" and "super smart" seems REALLY intentional, too.

yeah but i can't get anything out of it

Yeah
She tells him to think over and over, but it could just be a taunt.

That's why story puzzles are hard

8:04 PM
Oh, this puzzle gives me an evil idea for a puzzle, suddenly...

KK notes it down

comes back
I was going to try to cut the number's value in half
But it's too large of a number to do simply.
And I don't feel like doing it by hand

There are too many zeroes in the string.
That's strange

9505547390345526749532103205014947
Not useful, I think

you divided that by 2?

8:14 PM
That's the half value, yeah
And I really like Cortana, sometimes =D
"Remind me to leave, today, at 3:45pm"
Reminder set

haha
"Remind me to wake KK at 3am"
Reminder set

"Remind me to detonate the bomb in manshu's computer at 2:55am"
Anyhow.

damn it...it's already 1:46 am

Hahahahaha, I had thought i remembered Hugh mention a wife in here, before
...but it was Matt :P
I was about to get on to him.

He has wife.
let me see if i can fetch that comment

8:18 PM
I wonder if the password is Cardinals
lol

Ohh..so Hugh is gettting married with his gf.

Ah, okay

I just spotted a lizard...And I am scared now.

I find Cortana pops up and annoys me when I least expect it too.

Random.
Yeah, I'm like the only person, in the world, who uses their taskbars on autohide.
And she'll randomly pop up and state: "Hello, there."
"Go back to bed, Cortana"
Impressive... I've never tried htis before
"Move my meeting at 4pm to 4:15pm"
And she moves an appointment, over on my google calendar.
Sadly, she isn't smart enough to update her "Next Meeting" notification from 4pm

8:24 PM
q_a will be angry to see no progress :(

That's okay, he's always angry.
HAHAHA :P @question_asker

hahah
+2

Darn
HalfHeart is 9 letters
And Halfheartedly, is clearly too many

13 letters

yeah

8:26 PM
but we can't count to 13..so yeah..too many

You know, though...
I swear, at some point, I'd seen that he'd tried two passwords, so far
...but that was a different puzzle..
He still has 3 guesses.
Though I think there was a comment saying he'd used two guesses - it's just not in the puzzle.
The comment got moved.

I wonder what will happen if he fails.
He'll still get socks
That's nice enough for me if they are a new pair.

The other channel is working on it, too
But making no progress, and he's taunting them :P

haha

in Discussion on question by Hugh Meyers: My Puzzling Girlfriend, 3 mins ago, by Hugh Meyers
@NateGreen You mean like when I told someone she gave me a scientific calculator for my last birthday, that could be a clue? You're blowing my mind!
I'm going to laugh, though, if the answer is something that forms a funny word, on a calculator
But I doubt it, because it's not in the original puzzle, or the updates.

8:31 PM
Now all we need to do to solve the puzzle is find Hugh's height in feet and then convert it to centimetre.
Then we get the answer
haha

And no, I imagine the answer is not 8008135
:P
Or 5318008, as it were.

my first try : 69133769

heh
Oh, look
Cortana: "Hi! What's up?"
.....

"nothing what about you?"

lol

8:33 PM
When I said my credit card number was pi...

no the digits of pi doesn't relate to the number of strings.

hahhahaha
I honestly never even LOOKED close enough at the visa card to see that, Hugh
Too funny

There are just too many zeroes in the string.
3.1415926535 8979323846 2643383279 5028841971 6939937510 5820974944 5923078164 0628620899 8628034825 3421170679

The thing to keep in mine that "Hugh" is not a numbers person, so it should be easily solvable, on the spot.

first 100 digits of pi

8:35 PM
....Once we understand why.

I was trying to make it obvious I was in character

Yeah, I figured that was a given by the credit card being wholly invalid
Though I hope you don't mind if I steal the "fully in-character" idea from you, because I really like it.

Yeah...I had it checked at the bank

I did it, only halfway, on the Batman puzzle.
Oh, btw, Manshu
There's 35 numbers, so we can't easily divide them in half.

19011094780691053499064206410029894 can't be found in PI. (at least not yet)

8:38 PM
then leave the middle term

haha
hahahaha

@ChrisCudmore I searched it too

lol

Love it

8:39 PM
We're flailing like a drowning man here.

I think we're underwater, at this point.
But at least people are trying his puzzle. Hahaha

I think i am dead

I was hoping the "Your string was found at the Nth digit" would give me a hint.

Thank Satan. I have my hocrux safe

Where was that, Chris?
As for that 6 is a serious number thing
I tried looking at ever 6th character on the back of the paper - and every 3rd
Maybe if we call @HughMeyers a slob, he'll get frustrated, and give us more hints. =D
Maybe not.

8:43 PM
fingers crossed

Please don't be "password"

@Khale_Kitha It wasn't found in PI, so there was no hint.
Should I try E

"password" is 8 letters :P

omg...He'll kill us...the wrath of the q_a

q_a!!!!!!
(pronounced KAAAAAA!)
Try 'E' where?

8:44 PM
or KWAAAA

Sorry. Pi is not a hint. Just struggling with how to tell people I'm in character without breaking character.

Now you sound like a Chocobo, that got sucker punched.
Please just tell me that it isn't "password" though
lol
She states:
"Eight, of course."

I was going to propose an "in character" tag but it seems to be against the rules.

Aww :(
I guess it's not really about the puzzle.
But that's okay, because it's just a facet of your puzzle.
Hugh figures out the password and types it in
A prompt appears: "Type in the second password: (5 chars)"
Hugh types in: SCRUB
A screen appears: "Good job."
....anticlimactic!

haha

8:49 PM
@Matt Your new question appeared on HNQ

I don't think it's against the rules to be in character but there's a rule against "meta" tags. Any tag that can't stand on its own.

Right, though...
I feel like the tag standing on it's own is grey.
It would certainly be a rarely used tag, though
(Time to head out - gluck with the puzzle)

I'm going too. Cheers, all.

9:05 PM
HNQ?

@Matt Hot network questions

:o
cool!

9:41 PM
hello all
hey hold up
did anybody seriously consider the calculator angle?
