If I haven't mentioned it @HughMeyers, I really like this puzzle, and the storyline setup.

I tried looking at ever 6th character on the back of the paper - and every 3rd

I don't think it's against the rules to be in character but there's a rule against "meta" tags. Any tag that can't stand on its own.
