@MarkDominus That seems to be a reasonable tag. I would guess that most questions using this tag might be, in addition, tagged recreational-mathematics or puzzle (or both).
It would be nice to have a tag-wiki or at least tag-excerpt.
If you have time (and you consider it useful) you could write tag-wiki and perhaps retag some old questions (at a reasonable pace, so that the front page is not flooded with old questions).
BTW I've retagged a few of questions with standalone homework tag from this list again.

Some discussion about approximation-theory and some related tag is going on here.
Just in case, I've made a list of questions which have this tag at the moment.
