A: Can the tag (logic-translation) be useful?

user21820I am not in favour of the new tag because it is (as Martin said) too specific. It should be renamed to something like elementary-logic (see here), and include (in its description) not only logic-translation (whether to express English or mathematical statements) but also other basic stuff like pr...

There is a new tag .

Q: Proving $\displaystyle e^{AT} = e^{\lambda t} \sum_{k=0}^{n-1}\frac{t^{k}}{k!}(A - \lambda I)^{k}$ -final step

ALannisterSuppose that the Jordan canonical form $J$ of a matrix $A$ is an $n \times n$ Jordan block of the form $$J = \begin{pmatrix} \lambda & 1 & 0 & 0 & 0 & \cdots & 0 & 0 \\ 0 &\lambda & 1 & 0 & 0 & \cdots & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & \lambda & 1 & 0 & \cdots & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & 0 & \lambda & 1 & \cdots & 0 &...

Wikipedia article Fundamental matrix lists three common uses for the term.
In computer vision, the fundamental matrix F {\displaystyle \mathbf {F} } is a 3×3 matrix which relates corresponding points in stereo images. In epipolar geometry, with homogeneous image coordinates, x and x′, of corresponding points in a stereo image pair, Fx describes a line (an epipolar line) on which the corresponding point x′ on the other image must lie. That means, for all pairs of corresponding points holds x ′ ⊤ ...
In mathematics, a fundamental matrix of a system of n homogeneous linear ordinary differential equations x ˙ ( t ) = A ( t ) x ( t ) {\displaystyle {\dot {\mathbf {x} }}(t)=A(t)\mathbf {x} (t)} is a matrix-valued function Ψ ( t ) {\displaystyle \Psi (t)} whose...
In the mathematical theory of probability, an absorbing Markov chain is a Markov chain in which every state can reach an absorbing state. An absorbing state is a state that, once entered, cannot be left. Like general Markov chains, there can be continuous-time absorbing Markov chains with an infinite state space. However, this article concentrates on the discrete-time discrete-state-space case. == Formal definition == A Markov chain is an absorbing chain if there is at least one absorbing state and it is possible to go from any state to at least one absorbing state in a finite number of steps....

I edited away the tag. I do not have a strong opinion about the existence of this tag, but that question has nothing to do with fundamental matrix (in some sense it
even has nothing to do with diff. eqn.)

@JohnMa Thanks for the edit. I have added - I guess it fits.
Probably it would be for separate discussion whether this tag should stay or not.

Is the tag going to stay? Was is discussed somewhere?

Probably many it would be a good tag for many of the questions currently tagged matrices+exponential-function.

Another discussion about introducing elementary-tag was suggestion to create a tag for elementary questions from general topology.
There are the tags and . The first one seems to work fine, the latter is a big mess (and it is not even agreed whether it should exist at all and what belongs there).
The reason that the elementary-set-theory works well is that there are a few dedicated users who watch the tags (elementary-set-theory) and (set-theory) very closely and correct tagging. (I mean Asaf Karagila and Andres E. Caicedo - I have mentioned this before in another discussion.)
Introducing (elementary-logic) tag (or any other similar elementary tag) is quite a big change - something like this is not going to be easy to maintain. (Not to mention retagging the existing questions.) I left a few comments on elementary-* tag in Tagging chat room. In any case, let's see how the users vote on this proposal and if there is some support for it, we can discuss further what would be the best way to go further. — Martin Sleziak 1 min ago

@MartinSleziak: The retagging issue is the same with any new tag with a large number of matching posts; "logic-translation" too is a significant fraction of elementary-logic. I think it can help new users who bother to read the tag description, if elementary-logic has specific mention of "logic-translation" (maybe copying what Bram28 already wrote for description). Thanks for mentioning this thread in the Tagging room! — user21820 16 mins ago
