Is there some reason why this should be tagged ?

Q: New, elegant proofs for $\varphi(p^{k})=p^{k}-p^{k-1}$

temoAre there any short, elegant proofs known for the identity $\varphi(p^{k})=p^{k}-p^{k-1}$ ? (Here $\varphi$ is Euler's totient function and $p$ is a prime.) The standard combinatorial proof goes like this: In the set $\left\{ 1,2\ldots,p^{k}\right\} $ there in total $p^{k}$ number. Split ...

@MartinSleziak Thanks. What to do to advance the poisson-process / point-processes proposal?
@MartinSleziak If you are still here... and if you read my two comments here, you might know the way to re-install ?

To add context for other users reading this, the comment about conditional-probablility tag is related to this:
If I am reading this post correctly, the deletion of conditional-probability was decided and enacted by two users, none of them with a noticeable activity in the subject. — Did 5 hours ago

A: Tag merging and synonyms

draks ...I propose the following tag synonyms: probability $\leftarrow$ conditional-probability , because the topics seem related enough and all but one of five questions in the latter share the first as well. (elementary-number-theory) $\leftarrow$ (divisibility), because also divisibility appears ...

Deleting the tag (conditional-probability) was a most unwise decision (whose rationalizations above do not hold water and make for a rather odd reading). People, just grab any modern probability theory textbook and tick the chapters in it on this very subject... Was the deletion acted upon by two users in all, if I read correctly? — Did 5 hours ago
If I correctly understand the dates in the list of synonyms, the synonym has been created Feb 28 '13 at 12:43 by draks.
I would say that the synonym has been done despite the downvotes on the meta post. (The post is at -3.)
@Did IIRC, moderators can cancel synonyms. If the synonym was done by a regular user, not by a moderator, then the two tags very probably have not been merged.
If a synonym is cancelled, this would mean that:
1) Questions tagged before creation this tag would mostly keep this tag. (I am not sure about post which have been edited/retagged after the synonym creation.)
2) All questions with the tag where this tag was added after the synonym was created would keep probability tag. (No matter whether they got this tag directly or because of the synonym.|
I think that arjafi's explanation given here is pretty good: What happens with the tagged questions when a tag-synonym is cancelled?
So I assume you will have to ask moderators to cancel the synonym.
One way to go would be to make a post on meta about this, with explicit request to cancel the synonym.
@arjafi I am not sure whether you will receive my ping, arjafi, but I hope so.
From the past interactions I guess you are probably the most knowledgeable person from the moderators team with regards to tag management.
I would be grateful, if you could say whether what I said above to Did is at least roughly correct and what is the best course of action they should take if they want to cancel the existing synonym $\to$ .
Of course, if some other moderator will comment on this, it's perfectly fine. (But pinging more than one moderator because of this issue would seems excessive to me. So I had to choose one moderator, or leave this without ping and hope that somebody will notice this discussion.)

Sorry, I meant to say: before creation of the tag synonym.
