The tag was created here.
I have replaced it by and at the same time I suggested it as a synonym

It seems that was created recently.
At the moment, the tag has 4 questions: 1, 2, 3, 4.
Some time ago there was a discussion on meta about introducing this tag:

Q: Is it reasonable to create a (beta-function) tag?

Américo TavaresIt seems to me that although there is already the special-functions tag, it would be interesting to have a tag for the beta function. It would allow to tag this special function too, similarly to what happens to the $\Gamma$ function, which has the gamma-function tag. The tag would also be approp...

The outcome of the voting there is that such tag is not needed.
What is the best thing to do now?
Should I simply follow the results of that meta discussion and remove the tags from the new questions?
Or should I start a new thread on meta?
Or should I simply understand the fact that nobody objected against the new tag as a sign that the view of this tag has changed since then?
If this is the case, the tag should probably be added to the questions proposed in that meta post.
I have also mentioned this in the main chatroom, which might attract some users to looking into this (or at least commenting):

What should be done about newly created ? For more details and some background see here. (Previously there was a discussion on meta with the outcome that such tag is not needed.)

without knowing about the meta discussion, just looking at that tag i notice a problem: is it about the beta function as a special function, or the beta function as a pdf

@Semiclassical The tag-excerpt says special function.
