Q: Should the PDE notion of trace be tagged with the 'trace' tag?

Calvin KhorIs the 'trace' tag supposed to be used for questions about the trace operator from Sobolev theory (analysis)? I was going to de-tag "trace" from a question, but it seems like its not the first time this happened, Trace Theorem: a question about Evans' proof A question about a detail in the pro...

I will point out that there is also a tag called (with empty tag-info).
In the context of the above question, it might be interesting to check instances where was removed:

Here is a SEDE query looking for instances where (trace) was removed: data.stackexchange.com/math/query/1038474/… - I have mentioned a few similar queries in chat. I will also mention that there is a tag called (trace-map) which has empty tag-info. It is used 11 times with (sobolev-spaces). — Martin Sleziak 1 min ago
In mathematics, the concept of trace operator plays an important role in studying the existence and uniqueness of solutions to boundary value problems, that is, to partial differential equations with prescribed boundary conditions. The trace operator makes it possible to extend the notion of restriction of a function to the boundary of its domain to "generalized" functions in a Sobolev space. == Informal discussion == Let Ω {\displaystyle \Omega } be a bounded open set in the Euclidean space R...

11/34 is a much larger proportion than 48/1148 (trace+sobolev-spaces vs just trace tag). I suppose you're suggesting that one option to consider would be to repurpose trace-map? — Calvin Khor 21 mins ago

Q: Tag for (videos)?

Martin SleziakI'd say that we have quite a lot of questions asking for videos of lectures about some particular topic or area. Just try to search for video on the main. I think that such question could be tagged online-resources.1 Would it be useful to introduce a more specialized videos tag? There are also...

A: Tag for (videos)?

user147263I suggest to stick with online-resources. Otherwise we could be splitting hairs more and more: videos of lectures are not nearly same thing as Vi Hart videos, nor do they serve the same purpose. And then there are screencast videos with voiceover, which are also somehow different.

I have posted a similar question on MathOverflow Meta: Should there be a separate tag for videos?
