@cmw Erdogan is just an impossible character.
But from what I hear NATO and America have enough ways to pressure Turkey.

@a20 Are you planning to ask the question on the site? I still think it's a good one and I have an answer to you. If you aren't planning to ask it, I can ask it in your place, as I think it is well worth recording.

Apathiam Ne Cede Sed Humanitatem
Does this make sense?

@Adam No. Depending on what you want to say, you need some other construction, not the accusative.
The normal construction for negative commands is ne + subjunctive or noli(te) + infinitive.

@cmw Ahh
Apathia nolite cedere sed humanitas

Still not quite there. What are you trying to say in English?

@cmw Something along the lines of, give in not to apathy, but to humanity
Which is probably why I used an accusative, now that I think about it
Maybe I should be looking at a different verb?

cmw
The dative is what you need.
It means more 'yield to' though than 'give in to'. The latter sounds to me like 'indulge'.

@cmw I'm okay with "yield to" as opposed to give in to.
Slightly different meaning but close enough.

Thanks for your help by the way; I'm pretty sure without this site and people like you, Joonas, Cerberus, and the many awesome members, I wouldn't be learning Latin and would definitely be using extremely poor Latin with my mythology.
