@SebastianKoppehel Yes, it's the ut/ uti thing. I've seen this so many times when looking at the multifarious uses of ut: "ut/ uti (ad. & conj.)" (Oxford) but it didn't connect! Just before this was, "sed plerumque regiae voluntates" = "but as a rule the desires of kings"; why use "regiae" = "of a royal thing" instaed of "regum" = "of kings"?
