@JohhanSantana Yes, both are fine. I was thinking infans pulcher would be fine, too but I liked the way bellus sounded.
Here is bellus and here is pulcher

12:59 AM
Oh, and if you want to address your new child, you'd say belle, not bellus. But pulcher wouldn't change.

Got it!

@RetractedAndRetired I think there are certainly similarities! In a way, fascism is reactionary, so it makes sense that it should have much in common with older states and systems it is inspired by, consciously or subconsciously.
But I would say religion must have no major role in a fascist state ideology. In a way, fascism is nihilist and modernist in glorifying man, not gods. It is not wholly incompatible with religion, though.
I would also say it has to be totalitarian.
Or can there be a non-totalitarian, fascist state?
I think the glorification of power and leadership requires a very strong, powerful state, which points in the direction of totalitarianism.

2:40 AM
@Cerberus Is there a fascist state that does not also have a singular dictatorial leader with a cult of personality about them?

@Adam Good question!
I'm not sure such a state has ever existed, but maybe?
A group of leaders might have some kind of leader cult?
But that might be very difficult, as such egos tend to clash.

@Cerberus: Totalitarianism is the theory; fascism is a practical application. I wouldn't say that "fascism is nihilist" (nothing has any value), fascist regimes value control--achieved by caring about history, tradition, flags, banners, uniforms & medals--inspiring the people with patriotism ("The last refuge of a scoundrel.") to follow-my-leader. This is better than forcing people to obey; which, is usually what these (and communist) regimes end-up doing.

@tony I'm not sure why you say fascism is a practical application of totalitarianism.
Other ideologies can also result in totalitarian states; it's not specifically linked to fascism?
Nihilist in the sense of rejecting many important other ideologies, like religion and Christian values.

2:38 PM
I would also say that fascism and communism both force control, even if the ideals are different.

3:14 PM
@Cerberus I'm pretty sure Tony is saying that fascism is just one practical application of totalitarianism. There are other practical applications of totalitarianism. You two seem to be agreeing.
In other words, fascism is totalitarian, but not all totalitarianism is fascist.

@JohhanSantana When you are around next, how do you feel about quizzing each other about declensions and conjugations here in chat? For example, I could say what is the third person active singular of video, and you could give the answer videt along with the meaning. Then you could do the same for me? Might be a helpful way to use chat for us with learning.

5:02 PM
@Adam sure! I've only studied 1st and 2nd declensions though 😅

@JohhanSantana That's okay, it's still helpful for me to do those. Keeps me from forgetting!

5:33 PM
@RetractedAndRetired OK then I think we are all in happy agreement.

1 hour later…
6:34 PM
@JohhanSantana Here's one for you: what is the accusative singular of lectīca?

2 hours later…
9:01 PM
@Adam should be lecticam
@Adam what is the dative singular for amicus

@JohhanSantana amico
I had to doublecheck first 😂

Haha
I didn't know what lectica was but since all first declensions are the same I believe.
2nd ones change if neuter.
And some irregular ones like ager I think

9:22 PM
Ahh, you will soon enough if you didn't look it up yet.
