I'm with you on that. It's not practiced universally even within the United States, and it's just outright not necessary in the modern world.
 
@Jasper this is fair, and yeah I don't like DST one bit
 
I mean, if schools or companies want, they can always start or end earlier or later on certain days.
 
I've even heard tell that it's created clerical errors or accidental time fraud in the past (but that may not be true, this is just from memory).
 
Russia did away with DST recently I think. Now Moscow is UTC+3 all the time.

I think it has 11 timezones, from UTC+2 to UTC+12.
 
I seem to remember hearing a similar thing, that administratively the Russian government set a universal time across their territory. But I don't know to what extent the people themselves abide this time.

Right, @Kasmir. I tell people to draw the $\epsilon$-fence around the limit function. If for large $n$ the graphs of $f_n$ all stay inside the fence, then it's uniform (and vice versa).

These days, schools have various Asian languages (for good reason).
