@spugsley My high-level plan is to let it sit for a bit, then read it and take notes on a chapter-by-chapter bases in some software that allows me to rearrange things easily.

Then use that software to rearrange things as necessary and add new things in where needed.

Then use that guide to go to the massive draft and rearrange everything, leaving empty space where new things are needed.

@MattGiltaji regardless of the definition, ending a sentence in 'is' generally weakens it. You can create tighter sentences by restructuring. It's not a no-no (grammatically) but it doesn't pack as much of a punch

@murgatroid99 Yeah, except I'm not so sure now after looking at the code. There is an opportunity for it to happen under a certain set of circumstances, but my test doesn't meet those circumstances.

I should put a mutex on it though. I don't know if I'm getting a copy of an object or a reference to it.

@murgatroid99 It's actually a ref pointer object that's reassigned to point to NULL. The original pointer still exists and still contains valid data, but this second process no longer needs it. There's probably a more elegant solution involving the underlying object that's referenced.

And I mean I don't even know if it is a NULL pointer exception. It could easily be something else. My first bet was on NULL pointer exception, though.

@Frank True, I did manage to log in and browse the rewards, but it took a few tries.

Finding promo codes for online retailers is a headache and a half.

They're never curated properly, and most of them open extra windows and re-link you to the retailer.

Also, I love sites that first tell you shipping is free over a certain amount, and then tack on a massive shipping surcharge and don't give you an option for removing it.

The live aboard boat I was on had a dog on board. She was able to climb onto the swim platform, but the captain had to lift her onto the deck

It... depends. The boat I was on had a swim platform that typically sat a couple inches above water, and about 3-4 feet from swim platform to the deck.

@spugsley many boats have a small outboard platform for people to pull up onto and move off from for swimming. Doggie can usually clamber on to said platform with no trouble, at which point, it's just a matter of whether someone aboard can lift the dogs weight. And that doesn't seem too unreasonable.

Q: Sound and music choppy in Civilization beyond earth
