I got a close call with a phishing attack against my steam account today
be careful out there. ignore unknown friend requests. no one actually adds people just to seek random strangers to critique their CS2 skins. even in this hellish gig economy garbage hellscape.
if you go to a login page and your browser doesn't autofill your credentials, close the tab and google the login page instead
(this is what saved me as I was already logged in on the legitimate website)
I've received like hundreds of these friends requests and I've ignored all of them but one. I've always assumed it was people trying to buy my unusual or some very old crates I still have. I wanted to know if that assumption was right. It wasn't! It's just scammers. Even if the accounts look like they're lived (thousands of hours in CS2; 3 years old accounts; level 20; a variety of badges; a bunch of comments on the profile) they could've been simply taken over by attackers
