@Ronan So I think the cats capture messages must trigger a little too early. Just did a double hunt, and I think the cat told me to cap it just slightly too early on both Monsters... Not sure though, since I didn't try capping. But basically if a monster limps or is flashing on the minimap, they can be captured. Cats message popped up before either of these happened.

@Wipqozn I worked out that the reason I couldn't use mega potions was because the action on the wheel is to craft mega potions, even though they're default set to auto craft. Because good game design

Every other game I've played has had a short tutorial at the start of the first capture quest, plus they give EZ Tranq Bombs in the supply box

I assume Rise is similar in that regard

Well, at least you don't need to worry about not finding parts

When you break monster parts, you simply get additional rewards at the end of a quest

In the reward screen, they're under bonus rewards, and if you select them it'll say "Break monster's head" or something like that

So what are the pieces that turn up on the floor and you need to pick up

Generally those are called "shinies" in the community, and they drop from special actions

Sometimes the action IS to break monster parts, sometimes it's to interrupt certain attacks

Break rewards generally give you the monster part you broke

You break a monster's wing, you'll probably get a wing in rewards

But shinies are generally tears or scales

They're more generic

Shinies also drop when monsters attack each other

Plus I have no idea if I'm just not using the weapon correctly or if I need to upgrade it, because there's no indication of when my gear isn't good enough for a hunt

Stamina decreases naturally over time, sort of a hunger system

You should always upgrade your weapon when you can, and definitely upgrade if you're timing out

Upgrade your weapon for faster hunts, upgrade your armor to prevent oneshots

That's usually my rule

But I want to try out a bunch of weapons, and I don't have enough stuff to upgrade all of them

Upgrading one of each weapon shouldn't be too expensive in terms of materials

Or you can gather the materials needed for the next upgrade by using the weapon itself

So you'll get practice with the weapon too

There's also bone ones available

The basic Kamura, ore, and bone weapons are generally solid

They might not always be the best option, but they're simple enough. No element, no affinity to worry about, and ore and Kamura should have good sharpness

They're also usually crafted with easy to gather materials

Oh yeah

Something that is not mentioned anywhere near enough ingame

The Hunter's Notes have a lot of information about weapon mechanics and such

Too many times I've seen people try to get into Insect Glaive or Charge Blade and completely ignore their main gimmick because it's hard to discover by experimenting

I have only played the demo and I've played four other games in the series so I don't think I can give a proper answer

In what way? It's not tricky to press the buttons with the right timing, but I do get knocked over quite a lot because I don't know when they're going to do which attacks yet

Jumping attacks, damage from other monsters, and wirebug moves

@Wrigglenite @Ronan This is exactly what I was going to suggest for weapons. I used these lines to of weapons for a large chunk of my playtime.

@Wrigglenite The hunters notes and info pages are fantastic.

@Ronan Dealing damage to the head will inflict "KO" damage on a monster. Inflict enough of it, and they'll be stunned. Every attack from the Hammer should inflict KO damage.

@Wrigglenite I didn't even think to mention this. That would certainly do it.

There's also a more general idea of how statuses work

Attacks that inflict statuses do so by applying a small amount of "status damage" every hit, and when that amount reaches a certain threshold, the status is applied
