you should be able to run pretty much anything at low to medium, or higher, if the game isn't super demanding

and it comes in 2 versions: a 1050 Ti for 1349 EUR, and a 1060 for 1500

the cpu is what bothers me in laptops - you can always lower your graphics settings if your gpu is too weak, but there's hardly anything that you can do if your cpu is bottlenecking

@Nzall except for most gaming, the clock speed is what matters more than the core count and that's where laptops lose big time against desktop parts

2.8Ghz on that i7-7700HQ isn't bad, but a desktop cpu would be running at 4ghz+

since it's a laptop, ruling out upgrades, I would go for the 1060, if you can afford it

if budget is tight and you just want something that can run games and don't care much about graphics settings, the 1050ti is probably good enough, but the 1060 will help prolong the useful life of the laptop

I can afford it money wise no problem, but parent-wise, it would probalby mean I have to wait another year so I have my current laptop for 5 years

and since the next gen GPUs are scheduled to release this year, that probably means I can get the 1060 equivalent of that generation

so looking for laptops right now probably is a bit too soon

But I'm on per-diems, so as long as I'm spending less than $104 a day on food and incidentals (laundry, beer, strippers), I'm making extra money, not to mention the 3.5 weeks of flex time I'll have by the time this is all over.
