Sometimes, I go whole minutes without attacking.

@Yuuki ah. Either way, my first great idea after getting to the first town was to go to the place with the giant knights. I was doing good (if running and jumping like a maniac is "good") until I ran into the boss room. He knocked me off a cliff in 3 seconds (no exaggeration)

There's switches you can activate to close the gaps in the platform.

I don't know if they fixed the AI but you used to be able to knock him off if you knew what you were doing.

@TheMattbat999 as soon as you push the button, you're committed; pressing it more won't help. But attacks in DaS are relatively slow, and have a wind-up and wind-down in addition to the attack proper. so it's all about timing and positioning your attacks.

Even fast weapons aren't fast enough to button-mash with, and most weapons are not fast.

I pretty much always play Dark Souls games with a shield and regular size sword, and I spent a lot of time locked onto enemies and circling them with my shield up, waiting for an opening to hit them.

Also rolling. Rolling is very useful

Dark Souls is better when you stop using a shield as a crutch and learn to dodge. Harder at first, then easier

You level up by talking to the lady wearing green near the main bonfire in the town.

Q: Minecraft 1.12 Chain command blocks won't work
