@BenBrocka I wonder if they'd sell it here before selling it in the US

@fredley Oh, I've had some things to say about the game but they're weeks old.

That'd be a first. You guys can feel my pain. Mu wa hahahahahaha

@kalina Kalina time is worse than valve time
@GraceNote I haven't developed in that time
Please say!

@PrivatePansy Sounds like they're planning to see how it pans out it markets without a dominant roku/apple TV sort of thing. Does Singapore have one (and do you have streaming services that would make it worth it)?
I'm honestly surprised they're focusing on it as a streaming box, I 100% want one just because it's a cheap vita for your TV with a real controller and it streams PS4

Candy rates for the actual Candy game are pathetic and miniscule. It's still far too profitable to do Asteroid for candy, and in fact the new giant asteroids arguably make it easier to farm.

1:02 PM
@BenBrocka Singaporeans haven't really warmed up to the idea of recording TV to watch later

This seems to be because it's a multiplicative rate for getting the pickup in Asteroid, but you can only get as far as I can see about 9 pieces of candy from a run of the Candy game

@PrivatePansy Well it's streaming, not DVR

@GraceNote Why do they make farming easier?

The major cable providers here do provide the option for a set top box with that feature, but it's expensive
@BenBrocka Oh, no. There is only one streaming service to be had right now, and to be honest the selection of shows on it is terrible

@GraceNote Hmmm. I'll think of a way around that. Thanks for the feedback.

1:03 PM
@fredley The greatest hazards to farming are hitting A and B too much - you want a perfect amount of each and not too high. Giant asteroids give you a thing to shoot indefinitely without risking hitting an A or B spawning in your bullet wave.

@GraceNote Interesting.

Limiting lives to 5 is very functional, though. It's low enough that you can't just tank things (this is why too much A is bad) while it's high enough to be reasonable for normal actions.

@GraceNote Cool
Balancing is hard

@PrivatePansy Oh, you probably won't get it early then. Annoyingly enough it seems they're marketing it as a streaming box that happens to play PS Vita/PSP/PSX games

@fredley Add more gyroscopes.

1:06 PM
@BenBrocka Awww

On a similar note, Dust becomes worthless way too fast. You only ever need Ingots to make Coin-related things, and after a point, you get so many natural Coinifyers and multipliers (and the new time-moves-faster boost is really cool by the way) that you get coins way faster than you can spend them.

@OrigamiRobot Don't!

@PrivatePansy You'll probably have to import like I will if the price is right and I can find a site I understand

Not that I want it or anything, I just want to stand next to it, take a picture and shout "AHA, IN YOUR FACE" after posting it here

@GraceNote I see. Maybe I'll make armour recipes use more ingots/blocks

1:07 PM
I assume Amazon Prime doesn't give me free shipping from Japan...

@KevinvanderVelden You can just link straight to the xkcd page and it will onebox.

@OrigamiRobot I did not know that :o

This was especially the case when I had about 12 digits of Coins while still trying to make enough Gobstoppers to make a single potion.

Then you get the alt text too

@OrigamiRobot Ninja edited it already :)

1:08 PM
What? It didn't edit it on my screen.

The potion recipes were cool to discover. Anyone worth their salt in comprehension can figure out what you're saying so it's not too confusion but it's not so direct so it's at a nice place if you ask me.

@GraceNote Considering adding a marketplace with exponential pricing
@GraceNote Thanks

That said I can't tell at all what a Strength Potion or Strength Potion 2 actually does.

@fredley Needs more microtransactions

@OrigamiRobot Shut up, your feedback is worse than useless
@GraceNote Increases attack strength in CC and DD

1:09 PM
Also jiggle physics and second screen features for that AAA touch

Do the effects of multiple potions of the same type stack?

@fredley Add waggle controls
Release a Virtual Boy port

@OrigamiRobot try refreshing?

@OrigamiRobot I'll waggle your controls ;-)
@GraceNote No, and the cooldown for potions should prevent more than one effect being active

Mmkay.
(There goes my strategy for taking down the lollipop farmer)

1:11 PM
@KevinvanderVelden I already did, it's just weird that I had to do that at all.

@OrigamiRobot maybe because you typed at the same time I edited it?

Q: Why should i choose faith?

FredFaith provides many bonuses. It can basically help any type of victory (except domination). If it can help almost every civilisation on its victory, why did they had such a mechanic ? If I want cultural victory, I'll get culture building and build defences for protection. If I seek scientific, I...

@GraceNote Testing on DD is much appreciated, as I'm guessing it will need a lot of balancing

@fredley What does this mean?

So far I hear the dragon is too hard

1:13 PM
I don't get it. Doesn't the OP answer his own question in the first line?

I haven't even made it to the dragon

> Why should i choose faith? Faith provides many bonuses. It can basically help any type of victory (except domination).

@OrigamiRobot LET YOUR IMAGINATION RUN WILD WINKING EMOTICON
@GraceNote I think you can just spam projectiles at the lollipop farmer
Also I need to update some of the bosses to reference cookies

Mar 11 '12 at 15:53, by OrigamiRobot
@Wipqozn Don't worry. Robots can't get to Canada. We don't have imaginations so we can't visit imaginary places.

Or maybe I'll replace ingots with cookies

1:14 PM
11 hours ago, by FEichinger
@Lazers Why, yes, because every mechanic has to directly affect a victory.

He does have a pretty killer melee but at his growth rate I wasn't sure that I could kill him fast enough with shots but I haven't tried much.

@GraceNote Yeah, I might dial back the rate of growth

Fire Potion 2 certainly wasn't of any help against him, haha.
...oops sent that guy to hell.

@kalina All the caffeine I drank this morning just kicked in so now I'm PAYDAY 2'ing instead
For some reason this game needs to run "first time setup" every time I run it

1:18 PM
@Sterno You have that too?

@Sterno If I recall correctly that happens when certain setup files don't delete themselves after running.
Also causes things like the vcredist being "installed" over and over again.

@5pike We all do.

Good morning, Bridge

Good afternoon, @fbueckert.

@GraceNote ?

1:21 PM
@fbueckert Never.

@OrigamiRobot Always

yesterday, by Grace Note
I'm riding a drug-using motorcycle, stabbing people with a halberd that sends its victims to hell, and am accompanied by a legendary fallen angel that fires exploding arrows, a machinegun-toting slime tank, an animated suit of killer armor, and a little girl. All for the sake of earning a living by playing the piano.

Not even once.

@GraceNote ... Wait what. o.o

Ran over a guy who I didn't see before when turning a corner.

1:21 PM
Crazy. Person.

@GraceNote That sounds like a typical Japanese day.

@fbueckert Pretty much.

@OrigamiRobot Very strange. Wonder what causes that.

1:27 PM
I should've mentioned that the slime tank is wielding a living god-killing machinegun. That's kind of her whole schtick on my team, too.

@GraceNote what the hell crazy games are you playing?

@KevinvanderVelden Elona is the name. It's a roguelike.

@KevinvanderVelden And why is she not sharing?

Elona is a roguelike game created by Japanese developer Noa. Its name is short for "Eternal League of Nefia". Noa began developing Elona in 2006, and based it on roguelikes such as Ancient Domains of Mystery (ADOM) and Angband. Noa had previously made two other role-playing games, Shade and Etherwind. A reviewer at Insert Credit praised Elona as "very well-made" and compared its character development system to that of ADOM. The game is set in a fantasy world called Irva. The player creates a character, with one each of eleven races and ten classes, to battle monsters, practice magic,...

Yeesh that page is out of date.

1:29 PM
Based on ADOM

We were totally overrun and the dummies went back for more bags.

I like it already

It's very based on ADOM, but much friendlier and also scarier at the same time.

@GraceNote Make it up to date?

@5pike Way too much data for me to add and be comfortable with it.

1:30 PM
I'm starring it so I can find it when I get home
This seems to insane not to play

I may check it out once I clear up some gaming time.

You'll want to check out the Elona Wiki for real info, and most relevantly check out Elona Plus.
The English "translation" is sane for the first portion of the game up until the game's first final boss, which is a great deal of play time. After that part you'll basically need to rely on the wiki to deal with the parts after that as it's not translated yet.

A couple amazing Call designs! http://shadow2810.deviantart.com/art/Call-Battle-Mode-Mockup-Design-Pink-hair-v-399654891?q=gallery%3AShadow2810&qo=0 & http://shadow2810.deviantart.com/art/Call-Battle-Mode-Mock-up-Design-399456918?q=gallery%3AShadow2810&qo=1 by http://shadow2810.deviantart.com/

@GraceNote bla, I can't read japanese :(

I want Call to use a sword, so bad

1:33 PM
@BenBrocka Female Zero.

@KevinvanderVelden The site link on the right (that mentioned version 1.27) links to the page with the download, just pick up the Dropbox link from there.

@fbueckert Sounds perfect to me

@BenBrocka Yeah. I wouldn't mind a new "Megaman, but not" game.
Especially from the X series.

@GraceNote jeah finding the download isn't a problem, but part of the content is japanese I think?

Elona Plus fixes a lot of meh parts of the original Elona (which development was abandoned a couple years ago) and also adds two new areas after the first final boss. Again, the English for the first part is sane enough to play, especially the parts where it's actually necessary to know what is being said.

1:35 PM
Ok cool :)

@fbueckert They're working with Inticreates; they made Mega Man Zero and ZX, both had very good swordplay
And unlike X4, there aren't random bosses that are extremely annoying to fight with a sword (cough General cough)

I loved the fact that X2 allowed you to recover Zero's parts if you wanted, but didn't jam it in your face that it was an option.

@BenBrocka I didn't remember General being that bothersome to Zero but it's been a while I s'pose.
Definitely not as polished in the swordplay department as the later two series though, by far.

@GraceNote The fight took 10 minutes last night because he kept using the punch attacks

Aren't punch attacks how you're supposed to get to his face?

1:40 PM
It's all RNG as to which attacks he uses and that one has no safe approach, so I wait for him to come up to the walls
@GraceNote If you're X, yes
I don't think there's a reasonable way to hit him as Zero that way
I think X can also just hug the wall and shoot at him though

Huh, I thought it still was a critical component as you just jump off, smack him in the face, and then double jump away.

You can hit people in their facts?
How does that work?

It has been a while since I wondered "WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOOOOOOOR!?", though

@GraceNote hehe

@GraceNote You can hit him about 3 times while hugging the wall each time he does the non-punching attacks, it's much more effective IF he actually does the attacks

1:43 PM
@BenBrocka Probably is more effective when he's there but the punch attacks I think still were an opening to hit. Better to hit every opening than just the biggest.
Did I mention I have like 90% of an answer to your question about Sigma?

@GraceNote so would you like me to try and get a steam family sharing private beta for you or..?
I'm kind of late by now but you might still be getting a week or so of advantage on waiting the full release

@GraceNote You have 90% of an answer for how to dodge one attack that I 50% know how to doge?

@badp I don't mind waiting for the full release, got so many games to play as is that I'm in no rush for Steam.
@BenBrocka Yes. But the 10% is things that are critical to what I'd suggest so without that I can't give an answer.

@GraceNote okay. I don't have much use for the feature myself.

@GraceNote All I really need to know is how to get to the wall
I tried just hugging the wall before the attack starts, but that limits my effectiveness if he does the blowing wind attack instead
Much of Mega Man X is about expressing your affection for walls

1:47 PM
@BenBrocka This was Plan B that I was going to suggest depending on the validity of Plan A, which is depending on whether or not he has a damage hitbox before he starts either attack.
Since you still need a means to actually hurt that form since it's got its own lifebar, though, it's not a good idea if you're not able to reach him from there to make an actual offense.

@GraceNote Pretty sure he doesn't
I've tried standing hear him when he starts, but I don't really get any free attacks, and once the attack starts I'm guaranteed to take at least 2-3 hits of damage or more

Richard Garfield is having a free lecture 15 min from my work on luck vs. skill in games and of course it is tomorrow when I don't have time to attend :(

@BenBrocka It's very likely you'll actually get grabbed, too, which is terrible and doesn't help you at all.

Criminy, we're getting a lot of spam suggested edits lately.

1:51 PM
@Blem Check to see if it's getting recorded?

@fbueckert Could you grab a handful of like 10 or so and just fork the list over to me at some point?

@GraceNote Yeah, that was the annoying thing
I need to learn to dash cancel better, that's how people seem to do the most damage to the head

@GraceNote Sure, I can do that. I wrote a query to peel rejected edits, but that only goes to the beginning of September.

I can't remember if Shippuuga does more damage or not.

@KevinvanderVelden it is at IT University of Copenhagen, so it should be recorded, if they don't have the technology to do it I don't know who does, I would just have liked to meet Richard Garfield

1:54 PM
"Pigeon Rapier" makes for a very amusing artifact name.

@GraceNote It does damage for sure, but it's hard to use on him. I only use it to get a couple pot shots in when the wind is blowing
Is shippuuga even super effective against anyone? I almost never use it

@BenBrocka Not in X4 so much, no.

Heh. Trolling through queries for Arqade, first one on the list is Downvoters hall of shame
3

Web Spider and General. Two of the enemies you're least likely to be able to hit it with

Wow, General, really?

1:56 PM
@fbueckert The problem with that is that now downvotes on deleted posts also count

(I'm assuming you just poked an FAQ)

Q: Do Counter Strike maps exist in real life?

Dirty-flowI just found that parts of the Counter strike map de_inferno are based on a real place (see photos). As time passed the maps get changed so I don't believe I could find a whole map in real life, but are there at least parts of the maps that exist and where can I find them? I'm mainly interested ...

Oh god don't migrate don't migrate don't migrate.

So even though it says there I've downvoted more than a thousand posts, less than 10% of them are actually still around

Yeah, I'll have to see how useful it is against him
@GraceNote yeah it's on the wiki megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Shippuuga

@BenBrocka WIKIA WHY

1:57 PM
It's so dumb shippuuga isn't just normal attack + Dash, that's way more comfortable

@LessPop_MoreFizz If they do, we'll close it, and it'll bounce.

(1022 downvotes, out of which 100 downvotes are still visible [undeleted] on the votes tab)

@GraceNote Better layout and has plot info

@fbueckert Yeah, but that's a bad experience for all involved.
Fuck migration.

1:58 PM
@BenBrocka That is why I gave it to you. If you've never been there, MMHP is the place to go for these things.

@fbueckert 4rth place. I'm honoured.

@GraceNote I meant the Wiki

@5pike I've got second!

I mostly use it to read up on enemies and plot info

1:59 PM
@BenBrocka Oh. But... but Wikia.

This one's more compact but that's about it
Wikia is unfortunately the price of doing business for the most part

Also I actually think the damage tables are nicer on MMHP but that may just be me.
