So, the circlejerk community will rate everyone positive unless they were "bad".

@BenBrocka I took Skullgirls to training mode and looked at the directional inputs to see why QCF motions are so hard with the joystick. If I do the QCF too fast, it only reads down, then forward, missing the down+forward. There is a very narrow band where it registers down+forward, and I guess I need to be exactly on it when the frame "ticks" or else it fails.

Essentially, if I do the motion too fast, it fails.

I can do it as fast as I want with the d-pad, though, and it's fine.

@StrixVaria It's 60 FPS, I doubt you're moving too fast for the frame

D pad's generally the way to go anyway, unless you have a proper arcade stick

@BenBrocka I'm nervous about the possibility of getting an arcade stick now since it can't handle joysticks at all apparently.

I would prefer to use the joystick because my thumb is already raw from barely an hour of play on the dpad over the past day.

@Sterno A good strategy game should allow for that level of depth if you want to get into it, but shouldn't require it.

If I recall correctly, HoN was the "not as childish as LoL, but not as complicated as DotA" one ...

The hitstun one looks ridiculous if you know how to take advantage of it (I don't).

This article about Strife and what they're doing reminds me of a discussion I had with some friends about why those communities tend to be so toxic. Technically I'd say their choice of direction is actually going the right way.

@StrixVaria A good strategy is to wait for your opponent to be knocked down (after the last hit of a combo generally), load up a poison (I recommend the damage over time/purple one to start with), then cancel part of your next combo into the poison

@BenBrocka Yeah, I figure the purple one is probably the easiest for a beginner to take advantage of.

Good idea to load it up while they're recovering.

The hitstun one takes planning to take advantage of (you can look up combo videos that make use of it) but with the DOT poison you can just do something like fire off EKG flatliner and let the long animation allow the poison to do it's work

purple poison does 10% of their max health bar in DOT, I don't believe it can kill though, takes a few seconds to do full effect

an EKG + recovery will allow it to do most of the damage, and you can cancel the syringe throw right into EKG

I also need to figure out what's safe to do if my attack is blocked.

(make sure it hits first of course)

Also, both of Val's throws are great; her normal is a great way to mess up someone who's blocking; unlike most throws you can attack the enemy after the throw (they crumple down to the floor slowly), and her command grab does great damage

@BenBrocka I did notice you can OTG her throw.

@StrixVaria yeah, you basically just poke, inject, then immediately after the syringe hits, EKG

@StrixVaria EKG is OTG too, so it's great to end just about any combo

I forgot she has a command throw; I need to go through her movelist again now that I've gotten the hang of half of it.

Note that throws set damage scaling to 50% though

Q: How can I randomly power one of several wires in Minecraft?

Given 5 wires (possibly more), I want to press a Reset button, and have exactly one of those wires, randomly selected, become active - and remain that way (until the next button press). What is a simple way of doing that?

It feels weird to me to not take a combo to the air.

What was fun was when a friend of mine was wiping the floor with all the rest of my friends, and then I stepped up and we played for some 4 hours straight with him insisting he must make our scores even (which, at that point, I'd need to lose like 18 times in a row).

@StrixVaria I recommend Peacock or Cerebella to compliment Val. Cere because she deals lots of damage and is good for chip with Cerecopters, peacock because of the projectile assists and the ability to zone

Stuck at this puzzle in Trine 2

Painwheel was really awkward.

Cere's more usable than she first appears; go into training mode and check out Tumbling Run and Glide (whatever it's called)

She has way better approach options than it appears, and once you're within grab distance you can really ruin someone's day

One problem I have with Cere is that I keep using her level 3 super by accident.

I'll just have to learn to not do that.

I'm going to have to download Dolphin, and play Pikmin 1 and 2 again

In the previous games they'd cycle through leaf -> bloom -> flower -> leaf. It was annoying.

I wish all console games were also on PC

@OrigamiRobot Hard to say. I've collected about half the fruit, but the second half will go a lot faster since I now have all my Pikmin. I unlocked the final boss though. So it's possible IGN just rushed through to final boss and didn't bother getting all the fruit. But that's stupid.

@OrigamiRobot The main objective of the Pikmin games it to collect things with your Pikmin. In Pikmin 3 you need to collect fruit. Finishing th game without collecting all the fruit would be stupid.

It would be like saying Mario is only 10 minutes long because you can just use warp pipes.
