We’ve spent the last month polishing V2.0 of the Stack Exchange API in a public beta, and I’m happy to announce its final release. Kudos to those who have reported bugs, and made quality suggestions during the beta.

At this point the interface to V2.0 is frozen, only bug fixes and performance improvements will be deployed until the next revision. As always, if you build on our platform we will support you so V2.0 will be around as long as it sees significant use.

@IanPugsley yeah, I tried looking at things like couchdb and mongodb, and I'd have to learn mapreduce, which I didn't really have time for. google's also got an "app engine" you can host things on for free, which comes with an environment for certain languages.

most of my apps are 90+% client side - there's no database except for the cookie in your browser storing some JSON info.

I think right now for the badges app, I'm doing the data scraping in PHP, although I bet if I spent some time converting it I could make that work in JS too.
