The thing is, the first Metroid game aged very badly. Which is one of the reasons they remade it.

What do you mean?

setting a static ip in a router USUALLY means it assigns that IP to the given MAC address

The chronology (ignoring the Pinball game) is Metroid/Metroid: Zero Mission (2D NES/GBA), Metroid Prime (3D, GameCube), Metroid Prime 2 (3D, GameCube), Metroid Prime 3 (3D. GameCube), Metroid 2: Return of Samus (2D, GB), Super Metroid (2D, SNES), Metroid: Other M (3D, Wii), and Metroid: Fusion (2D, GBA).

@AshleyNunn metroid is lots of fun. Action-oriented though.

Oh, and Metroid Prime Hunters is in there somewhere.

Metroid is the first game I know of to introduce item-based backtracking. The original Zelda introduced small amounts of it, but not to the extent Metroid did.

@AshleyNunn If you get into Metroid, try the recent Castlevania GBA/DS games. They are all in a similar vein, and all quite excellent.

It should be noted that the last GBA Castlevania game has the first DS Castlevania game as its direct sequel.

Hence the genre "Metroidvania"

(which is rare for Castlevania games)

yeah, wallhacks are pretty common. They matter more when respawn delays are long or you can only spawn once per round (ie, in things like arena)

but back in the day "nosepaks" and other skin/model hacks were pretty common

@agent86 what game? I have never really seen a "wallhack" in TF2

if you can see an engie or a pyro, or a demoman around the corner, that might give you some advantage against them, depending on your class

@badp well, I've personally banned people for some interesting hacks... one changed the length/direction of shadows

@badp it's tricky, for sure. Usually people would submit replays where people were doing weird things (like tracking other players through walls and such)

Nah, medics now just uber before corners. The moment you edge out the pocket destroys your face.

I have a feeling they'll fix the Spy cloak issue with it eventually, though.

@badp It depends on the map and the number of other Engies.

@badp It drains more cloak than it should if the Spy is invisible.

@Powerlord The pomson's kinda rare still.

If the Spy isn't cloaked, it works as intended.

But, at least on both DR and C&D, it drains nearly the entire cloak bar if they're cloaked at the time.

Works really well on 5cp as long as your team isn't being steamrolled.

Even on A/D maps like Gorge it can be super effective.

It's really good on any map you can't usually re-enter Spawn on.

So long as you can keep either the entrance or the exit alive, your team will teleport.

I've never figured out why some 5cp maps let you reenter spawn (badlands) and some don't (everything else).
