@GnomeSlice seems kind of like a chicken/egg problem. people don't come here to ask questions about most games because it's assumed that it won't be answered, but if there were a bunch of questions about a game on the site, people might think differently.
if you look at most games (ie, not sc2, skyrim, minecraft) most of the questions are asked by site regulars, rather than new people (at least from my not-statistically-significant sample)
It seems like the Skyrim/MW3 campaign really launched the site into orbit, so to speak. Looking at the results of that campaign, and at what games are popular on the site, I noted a pattern. I'm sure others have noticed this as well, but I thought it might be nice to think on it and discuss it....

Which is a joint explosion - rename effort, since there is @badp's proposed utility of old-games which is handy.

I just found an old copy of Diablo (the first game) in a box and whacked it into my laptop I purchased just yesterday.
After the quick install I hit play and found that the screen remained black (nothing was rendering). There was however sound.
I downloaded the patch but still nothing.
With it...
I sold the Staff of Magnus (despite my misgivings!) because I had found it to be quite useless other than its value in finishing the Eye of Magnus quest. Now I've heard hints that the Eye may cast its gaze upon me again.
Did I render a post-Arcano quest unfinishable by selling off the Staff?
