Hi guys,
I want to consult with you about installing the new water pump on my car.
The previous mechanic who replaced the water pump, applied red RTV to the paper gasket of the water pump.
He did it this way:
I have bought a brand new water pump which has a paper gasket.
Do you think it is necessary to apply a layer of red RTV on the new water pump as well? Can I install it with the gasket alone after cleaning the mating surfaces?
The original water pump of my car had been installed in factory with the paper gasket alone.
