@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 That cover is made of plastic and the sealant is a rubber gasket, probably why those small leaks are so common. Thanks for the detailed explanation, I'll do as you said: Follow the tightening sequence from the manual (it's crossed from the inside out) and first make the screw only touch the cover, then give a final turn
I might check how does 13Nm feels on my torque wrench, just in case, but I'm imagining 8Nm is basically touching the screw and turning it just a little bit more

@IanC - With a rubber gasket, look for it to bulge out just a little. You should be able to see it "peak" or move once the bolt is tight enough. Don't tighten it past that AT ALL or you run the risk of busting something. And DO NOT tighten it to 13Nm ... that's way too much torque over the 8Nm you should be tightening to.
The purpose of the torque is two fold:
1) To get everything tightened to the same spec (helps to reduce the chance of leakage)
2) So you don't over tighten and break something

I mean't I'll see how 13Nm feels like on a testing screw, so I can apply a little under the force I used on the cover screws
@Martin Yeah, I imagine many torques are there more like a guideline but don't have to be very precise. The impact wrench trick sounds hard haha
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I'll keep an eye on the rubber, it's a little hidden on the inside but you can probably feel it bulging a bit. I think I'll manage to do it fine, usually I'm very cautious with tightening screws. I'm under bigger risk of undertightening then overtightening it I guess
I'll let you know how it goes, it's gonna be cool to see how my camshaft looks, if there are signs of carbonization or if it's shiny

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 no worries re: sidewall questions - happy to VTC going forward :)
