@BobCross I guess he didn't got the hint..

@Martin, well I don’t want to get too personal about it. At this point, I don’t think this wall of words answers the question. It has many things to say about other things but they don’t provide something actionable. I’d be inclined to flag it as a non-answer at this point

A: How long it take for car engine to heat up to a normal range ? 2005 Toyota Camry 2.4L L4 FI DOHC 16V

Matt KalinskiThe research shows that when the cooling system http://www.rapid-racer.com/cooling-system.php i.e. the coolant pump the thermostat and the cooling fan (the cooling fan which can be heard while working normally should be off and go on only in the traffic jam or during long engine idling when there...

I’d be interested in what other people think, though

@BobCross I go the Italian way: I shrug, think that I don't need to understand everything in the world and move on with my life (enjoying the beach with the family and deciding what I should prepare for dinner: seafood or beef?)
Ok, seriously now: IMHO a downvote would be adequate..

1:38 PM
Changed my mind and couldn't resist: I had to write that comment..

So, I got the GXP on a lift on Saturday. Found a couple of nice big cracks in the welds on my intercooler.
Side effect of having the thing on the very front of the car, 4" off of the ground.

1 hour later…
9:10 PM
@3Dave - This is your new(-ish) intercooler?

10:02 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Yep... about three months old. I think I whacked it on a curb.
Got the new turbo in and the transmission tunnel backing plates for the rollbar installed. While sitting in the car, on a lift, at the Mercedes dealer.

@3Dave - Classic :o)
@3Dave you ever going to send me that cup holder?

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Yeah. Sitting in the Solstice with a DeWalt 20V impact driver and a titanium bit, drilling holes in my car, 7' in the air, next to a McLaren SLR... kind of surreal.
Yes.
cringe sorry.

@3Dave - I'm not sure why this really doesn't surprise me?
;-)

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I have no idea what you mean.
:D

I'm working on mounts for the shadow box

10:06 PM
Cool. Wall mounts? Cleats?

@3Dave - One sec

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 - look at the size difference. It's like mine had a baby

@RoryAlsop Very nice. I'm too uncoordinated for a motorcycle.

10:07 PM
Sketchup? SolidWorks?

Possibly a good way to learn coordination?

Solidworks

"If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you."

@RoryAlsop - Is that a 90cc scooter?
;-)

LOL

10:08 PM
@3Dave - ROFL!!!

125 Yamaha

I learned to ski by breaking some bones and falling down a lot. Now, I'm a decent skier. I'm not sure that approach is great for motorcycles.

I'm building a shadowbox for a flag and awards from my Step-Dad ...

It's about 10bhp, so safe to learn on

THe mounts are for the awards.

10:10 PM
What are you going to use for the T section?

@RoryAlsop - Heh. My son's idea of a "bike to learn on" was a 1100 Ninja

And I can lift it - so light compared to my Harley. The Ultra's engine weighs more than the whole Yamaha
My in laws are not happy with me

Meh
That's her problem. In theory.

I told them Claire wants a Harley, so I'm helping safely

"in theory"
hahahaha

10:11 PM
Lol

I'm not big on Harley's, though my wife would never let me own a bike anyway.

I'm too old for a sport bike

But it's not about me ... I think you're making the right move for the wife :o)

The ultra is very silly fun on the commute - big, loud music, bright lights, chugging exhaust.

10:37 PM
@3Dave - Wife had to put our kitty down today. Old boy was about 13yo ... he was my kitty.
The one on the left ... this was when we first got them. You wouldn't recognize the one on the right now.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 :( That's hard. Sorry.
Got the new turbo on the GXP finally. I have a friend with the same model, same year, pretty much identical mods. for whatever reason he pulled 35HP more than I did at a dyno day a few months ago.

@3Dave - Is what it is. He's been sick for a few weeks. The vet said he most likely had cancer on his kidney or liver or something (wife knows the "what"). He's not hurting anymore. He's been spending a lot of time on my lap the last few weeks ... been getting thinner.

After the new turbo, I can easily slip past him on the highway.

@3Dave - Awesome!

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Been through that with a few dogs over the past two years. One was a tornado rescue - collar, no chip or tags, was found still pulling the leash behind him.
He made it about a year with us before we had to have the talk.

10:50 PM
wow

Yeah.

At least there wasn't a hand in the leash, eh?

HA... thankfully no.

You ever see National Lampoon's Vacation? They left the dog tied to the car and took off. Someone pulled them over with just the leash attached to the car?
too funny
Okay, time to print some more!
I'm getting better at building simple things in Solidworks.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Yeah... I remember it well. Poor little guy probably kept up for the first mile or so.
Planning to try and copy one of my aftermarket vented fenders from the SoS this weekend. They're pretty simple parts, small enough for a single sheet of fiberglass mat.
My resin has been sitting on a shelf untouched for two years, though. Might have to make a trip to the store.

11:03 PM
@3Dave - IIRC, the materials are pretty cheap overall.

Very.
I made a mold for a trunk lid a few years ago. It's still hanging in the shed.

@3Dave - Get er done!

But, that's a big part - hard to do it right. The fenders on the Solstice are pretty small. Much easier to work with. Just need to spend some time cleaning up the original part first. Making a mold is easy (after the first 30 tries). fun project and much better than spending another $400 for fenders and waiting a year to get them.
:D

We'll see how this print goes. I have to print two of them, but don't have 3.5 hours right now to print both.
Well, it has started out well, so it should go just fine. The base is what's the most important part (where it meets the build plate) ... if that screws up, you just start over, because the whole thing is screwed.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Much like woodworking.
If I'm making something out of expensive (or, in some cases, literally impossible-to-replace) material, I make one out of crap first.

11:11 PM
@3Dave - Oh, absolutely agree. Nothing like a model to proof your idea/work, then go with the good stuff.

I'd rather mess up a $10 Home Depot board than a piece of quarter sawn red oak.
Last time I tried to get a piece of THAT from the hardwood dealer, they offered to buy my table.
.. and no I will not give you my address, thank you very much...
(Them, not you. You already know where I live.)

@3Dave - You'd die at the amount of oak which is in this neck of the woods. People burn white oak in their fire places. My Step-Dad about had a coronary when he found out.

:) Maybe I should come visit with a truck.

yessir
lol

The real issue is the "quarter-sawn" part.

11:13 PM
game time!

It's like a bone-in filet. Mills won't cut it that way unless you request it. It wastes a lot of the tree. But, you get these gorgeous flecks and depth in the surface that are impossible to imitate, or to get in any other wood.
I only got it because a friend had to fell a tree and had an 18 wheeler and a crane take it to the saw mill. Literally, you can NOT buy this stuff in that cut in those dimensions (9'5x3"x11
Enjoy gaming. I should probably do more of that. Might better understand my clients. :D

11:26 PM
@3Dave - What, do you work for a bunch of 12yo's?

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Game engines.
12yo's-by-proxy.

Seriously, though - I've not been in the same room with this many mathematicians since grad school.

Don't get too excited ;-)
Back to the game

We all like making pretty pictures, and it's all about the math. Interesting confluence.
LOL... cheers. Go kick some butt.
